I tried the Appalachian Trail for the thrush, but it is very rocky and slow going. I suggest walking the toll roads, and leave in the dark before they open for cars.

I saw my first Bicknell's Thrush this month on Mt Washington, NH (about four miles up the toll road).

I first heard, but never saw, them on Whiteface Mt, NY and then Mt Mansfield, VT (both on toll roads). They're tough to see.

I have hiked in the Green Mountains and White Mountains, but that was pre-birding...
