Children need heterosexual parents, Pope Francis says after gay pride march

Alternate headline: "Pope Francis still an anti-gay bigot"

http://ncronline.org/news/global/children-need-heterosexual-parents-pope-francis-says-after-gay-pride-march

Pope Francis on Sunday stressed the importance of children having heterosexual parents, just a day after Rome's gay pride march demonstrated the changing attitudes about same-sex couples outside the Vatican walls.

Addressing around 25,000 followers from the diocese of Rome, the pope said the differences between men and women are fundamental and "an integral part of being human."

...

"Children mature seeing their father and mother like this; their identity matures being confronted with the love their father and mother have, confronted with this difference," Francis said.

Don't be fooled. Pope Frank is as much of a bigot as his predecessors. He just has a much better PR team.

Doesn't mean he's a homophobic bigot

(I'm being sarcastic, but really heading it off at the pass, as is has been said in all seriousness by others)

Thankfully he and many like him are dying off. They are just making last ditch efforts to preserve the bigoted old status quo, but they will lose.

(And it is unfortunate that your sarcastic comment isn't that far off from what we've seen many post in defense of that bigot!)

to another generation who are determined to defend him and his beliefs as not remotely bigoted. An uncomfortable number of that new generation have been seen posting here.

Gay people are just better at relationships. I have a couple theories as to why this is. First off they are ridiculed and harassed by bigots so, there is a possibility that it brings them closer together to cope with that. Since they have been given a minority status they might be more open to going against other social norms like gender roles in the home. And they might be less inclined to care about what other people think their social role aught to be. Most men have grown up with a toxic view of what men are supposed to be like a gay man can reject that more easily I think. Lesbians likewise have grown up with toxic views of what women are supposed to be like and they are freer to go against that.

I suggest I replace the Pope: I'd make more sense.

They will believe anything he says - they have no choice or the whole ridiculous construction comes crumbling down.

The rest of us can just point out his bigotry, ignorance and stupidity and move on, knowing it will make no difference.

Actually, even dumber as they can't use the excuse that "my Church says I must believe that these are God's words that come out of Pope Awesome's asshole"
