A South Haven church pastor accused of attempting to cover up sexual misconduct by a youth leader at his church was booked and released from Porter County Jail on Friday, according to online records.
Randy Allen Westmoreland, 52, pastor of Church of Jesus Christ, 791 Juniper Road, was booked on two misdemeanor charges of failure to report. The youth leader, Jeffrey Michael McGehee, 30, of Portage, had not been booked as of Friday, according to online records. Porter County Police Sgt. Jamie Erow said she was not aware of any active search for McGehee by the sheriff's department.
McGehee, who is also Westmoreland's son-in-law, is facing felony charges of sexual misconduct with a minor, vicarious sexual gratification, child solicitation and possession of child pornography. Westmoreland is accused of attempting to cover up the incidents and telling victims of sexual assault and other church members to remain silent.
