While I, personally don't believe in religion, many Democrats do. it's just that the repigs squeal about it so much, and so loudly, that it seems like they've taken over Christianity.

In a way, they have done as was predicted: they became the AntiChrist.

Hypocritical two faced liars making like they are all holy. Yes the Repigs hate, and with that I too say they are the anti-life party. Death is at the door of everything they do.

Contents:

Preface
Facing the Problem
What is the Word of God?
The Folly of Verbal Inspiration
The Follies of Fundamentalistic Interpretation
The Follies of Fundamentalism in Dealing with Errors and Contractions in the Bible.

"One of our foremost Lutheran scholars, puts it this way: "Luther does not identify INSPIRATION with DICTATION. The original authors, in Luther's opinion. are not mechanical instruments and dead machines, mere stenographers who set down on paper only what has dictated to them by the Spirit of God. He(luther) regarded them, rather as instruments of the Spirit who spoke THEIR faith, THEIR heart, THEIR thoughts."

"Today we deal with that folly of fundamentalism and the fundamentalist that causes him to insist that we take every word of the Bible, literally as it is written. In other words the problem of interpretation. "

"When I think of the 'Word of God', I am reminded of what Julian Huxley had to say about the word 'love'. Cynically he wrote: ' of all the worn, smudged, dog-eared words in our vocabulary, surely this is the grubbiest, the smelliest, the slimiest. Bawled from a million pulpits, it becomes an outrage to good feeling and decent taste, an obscenity that ones hesitates to pronounce.' Quite frankly, it is my conviction that the phrase 'The Word of God' has been just as badly used...The tragic misuse of this phrase by the fundamentalists has led to many of their follies."

A Jesuit told me to Translate rather than Interpet, makes a huge difference in meaning.

This book, small maybe 55 pages, was written in 1974, noticed it in a stack of giveaways at the church a couple months ago. This dispute has gone on quite a while, and it will continue ad infinitum.

The heart of the matter may be Intelligent Design versus Evolved Universe, still can't they have a united place. Its the lack of "oops" in the species, be they trees, flowers, non-human species, there is consistency. In every human body there a like 13 factors that are required to stop a pin prick from a complete bleeding out, taught as the "coagulation cascade". True in a few cases there are factors missing, but not the vast majority. What we take for granted is so complex. Its our species that seems to be at the start of great and disasterous changes on this baby blue planet, ie, frakking. Contamination. Gotta wonder if we perceive perfectly.
