Cowardice in the anti-Francis brigade

A group of 45 "scholars, prelates and clergy" have sent an appeal to the world's cardinals, asking them to implore Pope Francis to correct what they deem to be "erroneous propositions" in Amoris Laetitia, according to this report from the National Catholic Register's Edward Pentin.

Pentin reports:

'We are not accusing the Pope of heresy,' said Joseph Shaw, a signatory of the appeal who is also acting as spokesman for the authors, 'but we consider that numerous propositions in Amoris Laetitia can be construed as heretical upon a natural reading of the text. Additional statements would fall under other established theological censures, such as scandalous, erroneous in faith, and ambiguous, among others.'

Phew! I am so glad this group doesn't think the pope is a heretic, at least not necessarily, and provided he agrees to withdraw the propositions in question. And, at least only parts of Pope Francis' apostolic exhortation are "scandalous, erroneous in faith, and ambiguous" not the whole thing.

It would be nice to see the entire text, not merely what Mr. Pentin chooses to share with us. For instance, do these scholars and prelates and clergy acknowledge that Pope Francis' apostolic exhortation followed quite closely the consensus document produced by the synod, a document in which each and every paragraph received a two-thirds majority vote?

He is the Pope, and they aren't. They should be listening to what he is saying, not trying to tell him what to say.
This Pope is worth listening to. They should try it.

Apparently some "Cardinals" dont think Pope Francis was a divine choice, since he talks about Mercy and Kindness, how dare he show the Heart of the Roman Catholic Church that has been missing for centuries from the Vatican.

Nope, just that if the Pope and his leftist subversives don't start defending Catholicism instead of promoting secular liberalism, there will be a price to pay.

And you are going to exact that price? Is that a threat? Are you once again proposing violence? I seem to remember you were threatening "body bags" at churches to put those into it who "your group" was going to get out of the Church one way or another and you rattled off a long list of those whom you do not deem fit to be Catholics. You do know that threats of violence in internet comments is a punishable offense.

Huh ? Show me where I ever threatened that. More stuff you are making up or ascribing from someone else to me.

The price to pay will be a revolt by the core of the Catholic Church who will no longer tolerate having their $$$ siphoned off by apologists for left-wing retreads and their allies, Reyanna.

Throw in the growing backlash and the fact that Catholics are ripe to move on religious, ethnic, AND racial issues, and you have a Church that will be shifting right-ward very much so.

Imagine a national movement appealing to Irish Catholics fed up with busing or Italians fed up with racial quotas. The targets ? Black and white libs...easy pickings.

Like shooting fish in a barrel. LOL

Can I say that, or does the Internet consider that a threat against fishes, Reyanna ?

"Like shooting fish in a barrel". Your implications could not be clearer. About right now I could care less if you take your right-wing nut Catholics and go form your own Church. You do not represent the main body of Catholics world-wide who support the Church. You are way outnumbered by the rest of universal Catholicism who understand and resonate with this pope. I think the SSPX would welcome your kind of intolerance.

90% of Italian-Americans oppose taking their jobs and giving them to the NAACP.

It's not me who is out of step with Catholics -- including white ethnic Catholics, Reyanna -- but you.

Jesus was considered a subversive by the Saducees, the Pharisees and the Scribes... and they turned Him over to be crucified by the Romans...does that ring a bell? Why are you so frightened? Pope Francis wouldn't know "secular liberalism" if it bit him in his hindquarters...he's an Italian immigrant raised in Argentina... he's just Catholic, according to the Gospel.

I'm not 'frightened, Disqus, but he seems to go out of his way to appease the anti-Catholic Left while denigrating loyal Catholics. AL was a disaster, 250 pages of gobbledygook surrounding a few key paragraphs and 1 footnote.

He associates with left-wing bishops from Europe who are notorious for failed dioceses and 5% Mass attendance. THESE are the guys he listens to ? Of course, they allegedly put him in to the Papacy, if the blogosphere is correct.

PF might not "know" secular liberalism anymore than the Brown Bishop of Germany knew Naziism, but he's doing their bidding just like the Brown Bishop.

Pope Francis apparently thinks liberal Protestantism is a winning formula. It's sort of like buying a baseball club, and then deciding the Chicago Cubs and not the New York Yankees will be your blueprint on winning the World Series.
