(THIS IS THE JEWISH GROUP! RESPECT!!)The op-ed, written by the newspapers columnist Robin Abcarian was titled, Can you admire Louis Farrakhan and still advance the cause of women? Maybe so. Life is full of contradictions.
In the column, Abcarian claimed that she thinks it is possible to be repulsed by [Farrakhans] hateful rhetoric about white people, especially Jews, and still appreciate some of the empowerment work that he has done in the black community.
Though she criticized the Womens March organizers for taking too long to respond to accusations of antisemitism, Abcarian wrote that the fruits of the march were so inspirational as to eclipse that.
While organizers of the Womens March battled over who said what to whom about Jewish people when, and the merits of a noted antisemite, American women stood up by the millions and changed the country, Abcarian wrote. For that, everyone involved in the Womens March can take a bow.
But many people Jewish and non-Jewish alike were far from moved by Abcarians dismissal of antisemitism by both the Womens March and Farrakhan.

I almost posted that drek from the LA Times, but decided it against it. However, if you are interested in reading some great gentilesplanin', feel free to read it here.
Imagine, if you will, that the bigot in question was David Duke. I wonder how many people would be "OK" with that or willing to "overlook it".

(3,051 posts)Much of my family was caught up in Zionist fever.
At the time, I was reluctant to go to Israel, largely because my Rabbi at the time thought the time was premature and that a Jewish state should only exist at the will of the Mosiach. I was also a very patriotic American (and still am). We saved the world from tyanny and saved my (our) people from destruction.
Said Rabbi's grandchildren all live in Bnei Brak.
Some of my family lives in Israel. I am too old to go.
It's a regret.

(3,051 posts)Sickens me. She's openly antisemitic and has called for the ethnic cleansing of Jewish people in Israel.
We're in for bad times in the USA. It's only a matter of time before her crew and the (currently largely silent and invisible) fellow travelers on the right join forces and come to the front.
Ten years ago, heck, four years ago, Congress would have refused to seat her and she'd have been expelled by the Democratic Party. Now she's on the news, calling out fellow Democrats (and some Republicans) for having "dual loyalties".
I fear for my grandchildren.
This is how it started in Germany. A few nuts no one paid attention to that were tolerated because their votes were needed.

(47,596 posts)A Somali refugees, a community organizer who, two years ago, was elected to the Minnesota House from a Somali district after kicking an old timer, a very liberal Jew. Has no record of actually achieving anything but, as with too many Jewish congregations who either bend backward, or just think that it is good thing to do - is now a member of Congress with the help and votes and support of the local liberal Jewish community.
Before she won the primary, she participated in a debate, in a synagogue, no less, and said that she "changed" her opinion about supporting BDS.
After winning the primary well, she changed her mind again. This is a very liberal district so unless someone has the courage to primary challenger her, she can be in Congress for as long as she want.

This HAS to stop.
Someone in Democrat leadership -- looking at you, Pelosi -- has to openly rebuke them.

(3,051 posts)That's the way they work -- find a worthy cause, infect it, and then take it over.
The National Socialist party in Germany was a generic center-left party. They had legitimate issues with how common people were being treated. Then they found a scapegoat.

(54,060 posts)But, yes, the problem has become more pronounced, and at least a few aren't having it. Sadly, too many are willing to "overlook" it or, in the worse case scenarios, further attacking Jews for standing up for ourselves!
