Hubble Spies Milky Way Galaxy's Twin

From Space.Com: Hubble Telescope Spies Milky Way Galaxy's Twin. The galaxy is NGC 1073, a barred spiral like our own Milky Way, some 55 million light years away.

The Hubble image contains some really interesting features:

The Hubble image also reveals an odd, rough ring-like structure around the galaxy that is the result of recent star formation, according to a photo description. A bright X-ray source known as IXO 5 is located inside the ring and is most likely a binary system containing a star and black hole locked in orbit around each other.

The Space.com facebook page tag for this was: "Do you think we'll ever get to see a picture of the Milky Way Galaxy from the outside?" Interesting question, eh?

I've always had this image of the Milky Way as a more perfect spiral, like Andromeda.

Now I'm feeling a bit inadequate....
