(28,017 posts)The dust devils spotted several times before are actually alien craft. They deliberately erased the tread marks. While they appreciate the visit from its neighbor, they have a short complaint about the length of the stay. Even the closest of friends can overstay a visit.

(2,289 posts)They are probably worried about Ninja cookie elf bounty hunters finding them, and thus they are erasing Curiosity's tracks.
You can't expect much from cookie elves. They only know how to make cookies, so they undoubtedly have no idea that Curiosity's position is known to everyone with internet access.
That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.
