(23,867 posts)When you chalk up environmental and nutritional values, it doesn't make sense to keep killing animals. The only problem is our mindset. Cricket powder might be fantastic tasting too. I didn't buy them by the way. But it's something I'm working on.

(45,251 posts)I don't know. I'm not a vegan.
Our eating insects is not going to stop the killing of animals. The rich will still have their pate and filet. It's only the hoi polloi that need to get used to "the new normal."

(23,867 posts)Hell, I eat six pounds of meat a week. I tried vegan, and it sucked. How do you get 150 grams of protein a day? Thus the crickets. They're like a superfood.
I did my share for the planet by not having children, so I get to eat meat and not feel like a total pig. But I only eat what has had a relatively good life. Pork is out. Elk is good.

Insects on my food can't be ignored....because I am not eating them.

I can see them becoming a seasonal delicacy down the line.
