I have an interest in geology, fascinates me. This reminded me of a short lecture I attended long ago, a slide show from a geology prof. who had been to South Africa that earlier year. It was a brown bag colloquium, and I was a freshman at the time waiting for my next class but I was able to sit and learn a lot of cool stuff about geology so I went every week.

In this particular presentation there were slides of an unusual feature, a pavement with long grooves in it. The rock form was a low-lying, very black but smooth consistency, rather flattish looking landscape with ample vegetation about, could have been volcanic. I can still see the picture in my head it impressed me so much. What I recall is that it was called a 'pavement' ans that something large had passed over it and made those grooves. It looks like this rock form is not all that far away, on the continent, from the pavement of which I speak... I wonder if those glacial events are related.
