So your attributing this to all Coloradoans is rather insensitive.

I'd dearly love to have some good wishes (or prayers if that's what you want to do) than have the supposed progressive posters here tell us they'd like to essentially "see us left to burn" because there are RW factions in control in Colorado Springs and some other areas of the state. And while you may be unaware, that is exactly the sentiment expressed on several posts in GD today. Fortunately, echoed and agreed with by a small minority, but it is appalling nonetheless.

I thought OP was a commentary on the uselessness of prayer but this seems like something else entirely different.


One of my friends in Colorado this morning is pretty close to the fires - He moved there from here (Florida) and was wishing we could send some of our flooding his way. I wish we could send it too.

I hope nobody here wants y'all left to burn. I know I don't.

I also can't understand believing in God and not blaming him for the fires.

I didn't say all Coloradans. Probably I could have been clearer that I was referring to some posts I've seen on Facebook and elsewhere. I thought it was clear enough, but I wasn't.

By the way, I live in Denver. I've lived here for 40 years. I have a lot of friends in Boulder and some in Colorado Springs.

"I have been praying for rain all day. KLOVE, the closet thing there is a national Christian radio station, has been announcing the need for prayer and other aid all day. I'm now hearing reports of sprinkles of rain in Co Springs, it's pouring in Palmer Lake and it has sprinkled here too! Praise God!"

Well, I don't do the prayer thing.

But I am from Colorado.

Not a heck of a lot I can do except breathe that healthy, smoky air and watch the reports of people's houses burning down.
