Weather Watchers
Related: About this forumSend 'er down, Hughie!
Interpreted literally, the phrase is a request that God, or a rain god, send plenty of rainfall. It thus embodies the typical response to rain in most Outback areas of Australia, which are prone to drought; and the common Australian practice of referring to people by nicknames, often with obscure meaning......

Tropical cyclone season is starting, a trough has encircled the country and it's been raining nearly everywhere. I'm too far south for cyclones, but we've had some monumental rain and the ancient dunes that my town is built on are absolutely saturated.
I reckon I could be a storm chaser if I wasn't a beachcomber. Cloudy days are excellent - they act as a UV filter and you can see through the water to the rocks and sand below.
I have a fascination with estuaries; they are where the weather begins and ends. There's a lump of the local shipwreck under this estuary. When the run-off makes it downstream, it might show. I've seen it before but never get sick of looking at it.
Same estuary, early morning a few years ago.
