Anybody watching the Pacific weather?

Hey weather watchers, can anyone provide insight into what's happening over the Eastern Pacific the past few days? I've been watching the satellite loops, but I don't watch often enough to know if what I'm seeing is usual or what.

There are a few things, and not all are visible on one image, so I have to view several (and if you know better links, please add).

I know there's an atmospheric river plowing into CA right now, and I can see it on these images, so that's not my question. Rather, I'm curious about the various vortices I see: one just below Alaska, a couple in the tropical Pacific. Are these normal for those areas? Also, the leading edge of the atm river has a vortex forming as well.

Then there's the "pinching off" of the weather stream that was moving west below Baja. Was that like the jet stream dipping down doing that? And will that moisture join the atm river?

I've more questions, but will wait to see if anybody shows up first.

I can't get the animation to embed, but this jpg shows it, and this link has the loop.

Is it normal for the jet stream to dip so low?

Crazy the last few years. Definitely another factor to keep an eye on as it is one of the drivers of air mass movement.

A cloud reshapes in the wind. Sometimes it lays lazily over the continent and sometimes it looks like the remnants of a broken spirograph image. very unpredictable and subject to sudden change at any time.

I'm up on the Russian River, and it's been going steady for hours. Had to plead with the dog to convince him to go out, lol.

I actually want to go walking in it, but I'm afraid a tree will fall on me.
