2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumJust watched CBS News coverage of RMoneySanitarium....only one word to describe it....
Insane.
You have them showing the religious zealot/nut slinging his offensive quotes about separation of church and state, nausea at the Kennedy speech, crapping all over education and being educated ....there is simply no way - I mean NO WAY - this extremist can get elected in this country - even if a whole truckload of Citizens United cash comes in. No way. He is insane.
Then - they go to the Mittster, trotting around a Michigan plant and talking with his bulging eyes and overly animated speech pattern more reminiscent of someone who is on some seriously good shit. And I think - he is insane - batshit crazy - as well, just different batshit crazy than the other dude. And I think - again - there is just no way people will choose this one either.
Bring on the debates with Obama. It will be a thing of beauty, it will be ugly as all get out.
I know, I know....Bush and all that. But this is different - Bush was dumb as a rock. These two come across as dangerously kooky, as in unhinged, looney toons!

(7,093 posts)Remember, Obama has a mere 11% advantage over Rmoney being that he is a 'librul-ex-Mass" governor that represents the bad/ugly of the 1%er elite and a non-Christian!
Also, Santorum might look like a batch shit, unleashed crazy inquisitor, but for what we have seen of the republicans, I won't be afraid to predict that Santorum will get nominated by conservative leaning independents and GOPers that will completely overlook his insanity at their own (and our) peril just so Obama do not take back the WH.

(4,159 posts)But, as you mentioned, you cannot forget Bush. Remember how that fuc* was drubbed in the debate with Kerry, and the goddamned media still declared him the "winner" I mean, really, WTF?
Let's not pretend for one second that the media won't be drooling all over Romney or whatever swine they nominate (my apology to all swine out there).
We're going to hear some of the most outrageous, over the top lies that have ever seen the light of day, and not one reporter will have the intestinal fortitude or the BALLS to contradict any of them.
This is why Mittens remains the greatest threat.
Mittens LOOKS the part, and if he can get past the primary, he will be in a more comfortable place PERSONALLY.
He simply is does not believe all of this far right crape he has to speak to right now.
Put him in the general, where he only has has to marginally tact right, and where he can just focus on making Obama out as a Marxist, he will be much more comfortable.
And, as you noted, at that point, the media will be forced to cow tow to the Rs again.

I'm in complete agreement with him when he said in so many
words not to underestimate how unhinged these right wingnuts are
and that to expect them to use reason or think critically is dangerous.
The money generated by Citizens United and redistricting are also solid
reasons for concern.

(6 posts)I'm pulling for Romney 'cause Santorum is getting scarey. How ironic that the Ayatollah Santorum hates Iran when he would make a Christian Theocracy of the United States. And in his own demented mind he thinks its what the founding fathers wanted. I only ask this much of the church in my state: God deliver us from the Ayatollah Santorum!
