2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumBreaking: CNN loses manufactured drama, looks to Super Tuesday.
Our sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, relate a picture of a dejected, possibly broken, CNN team.
Drama lost, they have been left with reporting the news.
Sources say they are banking on a rebound, in a reality show style format, as soon as possible.
More later, stay tuned.

(4,667 posts)But I looked at the data and made the call for Romney in Michigan an hour ago. It looked like they were really trying to build the drama.

(645 posts)Or maybe the GOP will realize they have a frontrunner and reject them again for fear of actually nominating one of the loons running.
I mean that's what seems to be happening every time someone has a decent win in this primary.

(277 posts)All the deep red wingnut states will go to Satantorum and with that buh bye mittenmomentum!!
Mr.Turnip
(645 posts)and maybe Alaska (which Romney won last time but Santorum seems to do well in Caucus states provide there aren't a ton of Mormons).
Oklahoma and TN seem to be safe with Santorum and GA will probably go to Newt.
Santo was ahead by a large margin in OH in a poll this morning but that margin is likely smaller now.
However Romney has never polled beyond 30 in OH even at his national best.
Gingrich is still polling around 16-17 in OH, and he's apparently going to go heavy there so he might end up giving the state to Romney, because even with Momentum I don't see Romney doing to well here, Santorum has been polling fairly well in OH even during the times where Gingrich was the anti-Romney.
but yes if Santorum does well in a week he will likely enter a winning streak, cause right after Super Tuesday are states like Alabama, and other DEEP red states.
A poll I saw a few days ago indicated that Vermont might be competitive too.

(645 posts)And more likely May.
and with how insane this race is Santo or Gingrich may yet make another comeback, since you know the moment someone becomes the frontrunner it seems Republicans decide to reject them.

(17,656 posts)With Santorum whining, and crying, and moaning, and sniveling, and more whining, and more crying, and . . well, you get the idea.
Tonight he will pray about it.
And after next Tuesday, he'll pray about it some more.
But, if he hasn't dropped out by the middle of next month, I don't expect him to be on the short list of possible choices for Romney to pick from as his vice presidential running mate.
There's no more debates, so it's pretty much over before it got started.
If there's anything left in Sister Sarah's witch doctor guidebook, she'd better use it now.

(645 posts)Super Tuesday is full of Wingnut states, though he might not be after tonight he was ahead in Ohio earlier today.
And after Super Tuesday comes more Wingnut states, all the way to Illinois it's mostly Wingnut states.
I mean do you really see Romney winning the deep south? or Kansas?

(38,958 posts)the choice was always Mitt and he will lose.
I am surprised that there are so many who continue to fail to understand that this point.

(8,225 posts)The loss in MI was not big enough to slow him down. I think he attempts to step it up for Super Tues. What new outrage might that entail? This thing will not quiet down for at least a couple more weeks. There is still some Newtron bombing, and Santorum surging left in it. Sooner or later we get to the large blue states (NY and CA) where Mittens puts this away, but there could be plenty color between now and then.
I love the fact that Mittens in winning their nomination by carrying the same areas that Obama will take in a landslide in Nov. Gingrich and Santo are carrying the vast sea of red counties for Nov, but won't be the nominee.

(31,706 posts)I used to watch CNN 24/7 but I rarely do now...the deterioration of that network over the past decade has been symptomatic with the turning of our political process into a spectator sport. Everything has to be hyped...all talking points are played up and the charade is that this rushpublican clown car demolition derby has any relevance. It hasn't.
The cables like politics cause they can manipulate and be manipulated...it's easy to get a panel of talking heads and let them spin for hours on end. Beats going out and investigating serious issues. It's all about personalities now...

(277 posts)I stopped watching a while ago for the same reasons and they wonder why they are always dead LAST in the cable news network ratings.
