Bernie Sanderss Fund-Raising Plunges Amid Campaign WoesSenator Bernie Sanders of Vermont raised just $25.8 million for his campaign in April, down by more than 40 percent from the previous month, as he faces an increasingly narrow path in the race for the Democratic nomination for president.
The April total, released by his campaign on Sunday, brought Mr. Sanderss cumulative fund-raising haul to $210 million from more than 2.4 million donors.
He raised almost $46 million in March, his best month yet in a contest during which he has frequently brought in more money than his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton.
Earlier this week, Mr. Sanders revealed in an interview that he would be laying off some 255 workers, saying he would focus his resources on competing in the remaining 14 contests, particularly in California.
Mr. Sanders has faced questions about how much he can continue to raise as Mrs. Clinton has pulled farther ahead in the competition for Democratic delegates. But he is continuing to bring in large sums of money from donors making small gifts.
What our campaign is doing is bringing millions of Americans into the political process, his campaign manager, Jeff Weaver, said in a statement. Four in 10 contributors are between 18 and 39 years old and the most common professions of donors are teachers, students and engineers, the statement said.

Although he still claims at rallies that his "average contribution" is $27, contrary to that his average contribution PER CONTRIBUTOR is more like $90, more than three times $27.

(1,947 posts)just like you don't mind supporting the oligarchy. Lobbyist and super pac money is a ok with camp status quo. Attend any $353,000 a plate fundraisers lately?

(1,947 posts)I enjoy watching camp weathervane make more excuses for their candidate acting like an 80's republican. I am getting a kick out of Hillary supporter's supporting gop policies from days gone by, (obamacare) , I am getting a kick out of how far right we have become and the ones willing to justify it as being righteous. I enjoy knowing once Hillary secures the nomination I do not have to worry about writing checks to a presidential candidate, or knock on doors, or phone bank, or generally talk her up. I won't have a dog in this hunt for corporate rule.

Bernie supporters like myself gave freely of our own money, and will continue to do so.
Hillary will just shake the Goldman Sachs blood-money tree a little harder when she needs more cash. You folks must be awfully proud. Such nice company you keep...

Sanders' PERSONAL finances are available from the FEC website. It's curious that he had no problem filing that Personal Financial Disclosure last May but now all of a sudden he's asking for an extension. It's a simple form, takes about ten or fifteen minutes to complete. It could have easily been done sometime during those 19 hour round trip to Rome a week ago.
