Obama is quoted "" ...there may be a couple issues where Bernie agrees with me more. I dont know. I havent studied their positions that closely.""

Wow!! The most politically connected Democrat - Obama - admits he has not studied Bernie's positions. Wow!!
More people on DU know more about Bernie than the president of the United States!! I guess Obama just decided that he only wants H to succeed him? Therefore why even get one of his aides to inform him about Bernie's positions?
Does Obama even care about the party's race?
All across this land, People are unaware of Bernie's positions, That's why so few votes are counted for him. These people are ignorant of Bernie's positions and Obama is their leader!!
Gawd damn we are screwed!!

I have noticed a concerted and concentrated effort by diehard Hillary supporters to do everything they can to debase discussions, and I strongly doubt I am alone.

A lot of us progressives are pulling the plug op his show, and he now tails behind Fallon And Kimmel.
I see car after car with Bernie stickers and nary a car with Clinton. All my girlfriends who used to support her four or five years ago detest her now and are firmly for Bernie.
And she cannot beat Trump in the General Election. It is a shame the DNC is so helpful to her in the dishonest tactics of her primary election game plays in state after state, but in fact, by popular vote, Bernie is above her.

(32,324 posts)Sanders Statement on Indiana Primary Win
I want to thank the people of Indiana for the great upset victory that they gave us tonight. This is the 18th state that we have won, and we expect more victories in the weeks to come.
The Clinton campaign thinks this campaign is over. Theyre wrong. Maybe its over for the insiders and the party establishment, but the voters in Indiana had a different idea. The campaign wasnt over for them. It isnt over for the voters in West Virginia. It isnt over for Democrats in Oregon, New Jersey and Kentucky. It isnt over for voters in California and all the other states with contests still to come.
We understand that we have an uphill climb to victory but we have been fighting uphill from the first day of this campaign. We are in this campaign to win and were going to fight until the last vote is cast. There is nothing I would like more than to take on and defeat Donald Trump, someone who must never become president of this country.
The voters in the remaining contests deserve a chance to compare my record and Hillary Clintons record on creating jobs, raising the minimum wage, war and peace, the need for health care for all, breaking up big banks, combating climate change and other critical issues. To help voters make the best-informed choice possible, I hope that Secretary Clinton will agree to a date and place for a debate in California.

(5,737 posts)The fact is, Bernie has had years to push his agenda, but has done nothing. He has zip to show for his time in the House and the Senate. Seems to me, and those that aren't naive, that maybe the issue is Bernie.

Sort of like that time in April 2009 when Obama came out and said he didn't understand the American economy. That remark was broadcast once and then, I guess one of his advisers thought it a bad idea for the President to brag about how little he knows about such an important matter.

(13,685 posts)One might think that Obama would know more than he is letting on.
Then there is the fact that Bernie is not known well. That fact is enforced by Obama's statement that he doesn't know Bernie's positions. So it is no wonder then that Bernie hasn't swept the election, since so few even know his positions?
Many of those that do know Bernie, send Bernie money and vote for him. I wonder what Obama would do if he knew?
GulfCoast66
(11,949 posts)So I can think of several other reasons he is not a Bernie Bro.
He thinks that as a sitting Democratic President he needs to remain as neutral as possible until after the primary is over.
He thinks Bernie has no platform. Just platitudes that accomplish nothing.
After spending 7 years fighting the good fight he knows that an ideologue is dangerous.
Since for the last 7 years he has had access to the most reliable security information, he now know that despite his belief that the US has caused serious harm to the world in the past decades, there really are nations and forces way more despicable than we are.
That at the end of the day that anytime the US has enacted major trade barriers the economy has tanked.
He knows that Clinton's negatives are on the table and she still looks like a winner. But after the Republicans and the press introduce Bernie, and his long history to the American people he will be toast.
That while the term Democratic Socialist does not scare folks like you and me, to many people in this country that word is still a poison pill. While the President, you and I would disagree he knows the electorate better than you. After all, he managed to get elected twice.
I am not all that smart and was able to come up with these possibilities. Of course, we will never know. You obviously like the President so want to come up with plausible reasons that he agrees with you but does not publicly express those feelings. You cannot discount the possibility that he is very well informed and thinks you are wrong.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)Obama is a 1%er, so he isn't quite in touch with real people like Bernie is.
Obama is quoted as saying he doesn't know Bernie's positions. To me that means he doesn't care and is not willing to learn.
Obama will not have a great legacy as he has let so much slip by without concern. His greatest regret was getting drawn into Libya, and H did the dragging. The ME, while not as bad as it was after H voted to invade, is still a tangle of death and destruction with no end in sight.
Global warming, oil drilling and subsidies to big oil continue and there are now more poor and destitute folks. But hey, Obama's rich as heck!!
