2016 Postmortem

For those of you who keep saying that Hillary having a private email server set up is the same as what SoS Powell, Albright and Rice did, you're wrong! It's not the same thing.
According to MSNBC, an aide for Albright said she "did not use email while she was in office" from 1997 to 2001. And Rice, head of the State Department from 2005-09, was not a habitual emailer either, according to multiple reports.
So that leaves Powell, a regular email user, as Clintons only predecessor who serves as a useful comparison. When we reached out to the Clinton campaign, they pointed us to Powell.
Like Clinton, Powell used a personal email address. However, theres a big difference: Clinton hosted her email on a private server located in her home. Powell did not."

Now we have missing emails on top of it, which will probably end up as an obstruction of justice.
Pagliano would have been required to turn over any official communications from his work account before he left the government. State Department officials say he had an official email account, but that they can't find any of those records he would have turned over and continue to search for them.
The Department has searched for Mr. Paglianos email pst file and has not located one that covers the time period of Secretary Clintons tenure, State Department spokesman Elizabeth Trudeau said today, referencing a file format that holds email.
To be clear, the Department does have records related to Mr. Pagliano and we are working with Congress and [Freedom of Information Act] requesters to provide relevant material. The Department has located a pst from Mr. Paglianos recent work at the Department as a contractor, but the files are from after Secretary Clinton left the Department," Trudeau added.

Hillary may have the experience to be president, but she lacks the judgment to be one.

The private server was set up shortly after Bill Clinton left office. It was installed under the supervision of the Secret Service for use by a former president and his family. It was under the physical protection of the Secret Service during the entire time of its use.
What exactly is the problem with the private server?
Why is using a private server more problematic than SOS Powell using his personal gmail account to correspond with foreign leaders in the run up to the Iraq War and then deleting all the emails without turning a single record over to the archivists?
Why is it Mrs. Clinton's fault that the State Department can't find Pagliano's emails? Did Mrs. Clinton control the emails from his official .gov account?
"Pagliano would have been required to turn over any official communications from his work account before he left the government. State Department officials say he had an official email account, but that they can't find any of those records he would have turned over and continue to search for them."
There used to be an old story about a politician who defeated his opponent by pointing out that the other candidate was a "sexagenarian whose sister was a thespian". It was the truth, it was unimportant, but it sounded so bad.

For those who won't click on the link (I'm looking at YOU, Hillbots) it matters not whether Bryan Pagliano is spilling the beans, and the definition of classified data isn't -- as the word 'is' once was -- up for debate.
She stands a greater chance of NOT being prosecuted for the crime than she does having committed it, even by error or omission.
But we know... y'all don't care. First lady president, her turn, etc.

After this story was posted, Trudeau reached out to ABC News, amending her previous statement to say that despite the absence of his original pst file, some small amount of Paglianos email has been recovered, suggesting they were gleaned from other email accounts.

(5,761 posts)Look, I hope she is cleared but honestly this is a really big thing and I don't see it happening. She had classified information on the server and that alone put the country at risk. She knew better and as a recent email exchange showed, she also conducted official SOS business on her personal phone at home on an unsecured line.
This is a serious lack in judgement and one which put us at risk as a country.
