2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forum"A Broken Prize" that's what it was called when Humphrey won the nomination in 1968
1968 - the last time the Democratic Party became so incompetent that there was an uprising against the establishment and the Democratic Party became torn in half.
Congratulations DNC, DLC, Third Way and the rest, history is repeating itself. Tonite in Nevada was the icing on the cake. This party is more divided tonite than it was this morning. They have successfully torn this party in half and are now pitting one side against the other.
When people have had enough they become motivated. Just as they did in 1968 over the Vietnam war.
A "broken prize". That is what Hillary's nomination will be.
This entire primary season has been a sham from the 450 super delegates that pledged their support to Hillary before any other candidate threw their hat in the ring to the initial debates being held on Sat nites or Sunday evenings of a 3 day weekend; to the voter suppression, registered voters disappearing from the voting rolls; flipping of registrations so people could not vote; and now rules being illegally changed at state conventions.
For those of you that want to keep your head in the sand & pretend these things didn't happen & that it's all sour grapes - I have one thing to say to you - have fun in November when the same things are still happening during the General Election.
Continuing to sweep it under the rug is not going to change anything, as it hasn't since 2000 & probably earlier than that.
In the meantime, I have a feeling that history is going to repeat itself. It might be a good time for a history lesson.
Once again - the whole world is watching.

(2,280 posts)This primary isn't even close, Hillary is way ahead, there won't be a "contested convention" it will be an easy big win for Hillary. The only people who think it's close or that there was any "cheating" is a small group of mathematically challenged conspiracy nuts.
It's Hillary vs Trump now, Bernie's 15 minutes are over.

(3,111 posts)wise to include Bernie supporters in a big tent. They have a lot of energy, and many of the good ideas in this entire campaign had origins in Bernie at least as much as Hillary.
Flailing to the Right to pick up Republicans would be depressing, demotivating, dispiriting, and foolish - yesterday's tactics and yesterday's news.

(937 posts)while Nixon in a head to head matchup with Eugene McCarthy was leading 40 to 37 percent in a Harris poll. Hubert Humphrey lost the general election by 0.7%, it would of been worse with Eugene McCarthy

(39,451 posts)You made your point very clearly. So clearly, in fact, that some feel compelled to attempt to distract from it.
