2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWashington Times? "Sanders supporters readying protests for DNC convention"
I just do not get why right wing outlets seem so eager to support Bernie when poll after poll shows that he is the better candidate against Trump. Bernie would be their worst nightmare.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/may/19/sanders-supporters-ready-protests-dnc-convention/
Liberals love their protests and creating mayhem in order to get their point of view across. Thats why the Democratic National Convention in July is going to be so much fun.
According to The Wall Street Journal, at least five of the nine permit applications to hold demonstrations during the Philadelphia Democratic Convention have been filed by supporters of Vermont Sen. Bernard Sanders. The groups planning the protests are The Berners, Black Men for Bernie, Movement for Bernie and Bernie or Bust, according to the Journal.
I guess you reap what you sow.
Not one Republican candidates supporters have filed protest applications with the Cleveland city government, where the Republican National Convention will be held, though six permit applications have been received, according to the Journal. Most likely theyre from the same professional, liberal agitators that have been following Donald Trump around.

(44,228 posts)Right wing media props up Bernie because doing so is a way for them to attack Hillary "from the left". They, like everyone else in the world, know that Hillary will be the Democratic nominee, so they're trying to bleed support from her in advance of the General Election.
And some on the fringe left are only too eager to lap up their spin.

(17,064 posts)And there's such a large number of voters to Clinton's left, it's logical that Trump would try to pick a few up. It's certainly a lot easier than fighting over the minuscule number of voters between them.

(47,221 posts)I suppose you might have noticed he makes them up as he goes. The fact that you lend him any credence at all for attacking from a "position" indicates to me that you are all too eager to twist an argument to defend Sanders.

(744 posts)I think that is what scares me more than anything else about this candidatethat people treat him like his a religious figure deserving of worship, devotion, and blind action. He reminds me of the High Sparrow from Game of Thrones and I worry we'll be seeing something along the lines of the Faith Militant before long.

(744 posts)I see daily religious comparisons across my Facebook newsfeed comparing Bernie in some way to Christ.
It truly frightens me because I remember others who were compared thus in decades past.

(27,247 posts)My reference was strictly secular, for the reason I have already given.
barrow-wight
(744 posts)When religious references abound, it's sorta hard to know when someone is just using a manner of expression. Hillary's misguided "Off there Reservation" comment comes to mind.

(9,314 posts)One might make the wrong impression opening up discussing violence and suggesting a strong military presence is desirable at the convention. Why the military and not just the usual local police representation? Bernie Sanders' supporters are peaceful people who do request permits to exercise their second amendment privileges. It is the ones who show up without permits one has to worry about.
As far as Nevada is concerned, that state should be disqualified from the count. We will never know who truly won the state to begin with since the Harry Reid influence arrived in town the week of the vote when Hillary was tanking in the polling. He contacted his friends who ran businesses there and asked them to allow their workers time off to vote. Many of them did. Scores of those workers arrived en masse to cast their vote, and even though many of them were not even registered, the poll workers allowed them to vote, gave them registration papers and told them to complete them later and turn them in. So this was just the start of the Nevada voting process, and it was all downhill from there.
David Brock has the reputation he has earned over the years, and most people here are very familiar with his "work" as well as that of Mark Penn. Both of them are experts in political dirty work and tricks. People who perform the very specific type of work these two are historically known for deserve the criticism they receive.

(744 posts)And what does that mean you're suggesting about Bernie supporters there? Were they not also working and thus now allowed to vote as a result of Senator Reid's actions?
As for my joining on May 17th, what does that have to do with anything? Do my decades of opinions have no value because I haven't spent all that time sharing them here?

How do you explain why the Republicans have laid off Bernie for an entire year, if they are so terrified of running against him?
I guess it's not unlike BernieMath - one has to suspend all connection with reality and common sense in order to "get" it.
