WASHINGTON (AP) -- Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton says persistent rival Bernie Sanders "has every right to finish off his campaign however he chooses." But she says she wants to focus on presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump because his is not "a normal candidacy."
Clinton noted in an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press" Sunday that she's won 3 million more votes than Sanders in the Democratic primaries. She said it's time to talk about Trump because his candidacy poses "immediate dangers" to the country.
Clinton criticized Trump for being open to pulling the U.S. out of NATO and allowing some other countries to have nuclear weapons.
She said she's willing to talk with Sanders and "take into account" what the Vermont senator is asking for at the party's national convention this summer.

(146,358 posts)remaining primary ballot, regardless of what he decides to do.
After the final primary in DC, the outcome will be obvious and clear. At that point, Bernie Sanders needs to acknowledge that he has lost and shift into endorsement mode for Hillary Clinton. I have every reason to believe that he will do exactly that.
Hillary recognizes his right to continue his campaign, of course. Why would she not?

It seems obvious to me that supporters of a candidate who openly contradict the positions of that candidate are not actually supporting the candidate.

(154,021 posts)him dropping out will actually depress turnout... you guys cannot be that ignorant, Especially since you claim to be from California originally. Or maybe you can

(146,358 posts)So, it's a matter of no consequence to me, really. We're getting very close to the end of the primary season. Hasten the day! I'm ready for general election campaign season.
You might feel differently.
nadinbrzezinski
(154,021 posts)that you really do not care about Prop I. You might be ready, but have a tad of patience. Yes, high turnout matters for far more than just the presidential level, for somebody who spouts at GOTV, i cannot take your word anymore.

(146,358 posts)Shocking...
I don't follow California state propositions any longer, since I no longer live there. When I lived there, I did, though.
I live in Minnesota now, so California is no longer my state of residence. I'll leave worrying about issues there to CA residents.

(154,021 posts)you voted, let the rest of us vote, And if you believe in GOTV as you claim, you would not continue to believe that it is only about the presidential level. Again, my local workers thank you. Locally this is what this is about.

(146,358 posts)I'm not the all-powerful OZ, after all. I'm just another DUer. You credit me with far more power than I have or even want.
I hope California has a record-setting turnout. I hope that for every state.

It is not just what Bernie is asking for, it is what all of us who reject what Hillary stands for are asking for.
And IMO she has absolutely no intention of changing one little Third Way Wall Street PNAC thing she is planning to inflict on us.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Is that how you would describe Hillary Clinton against Donald Trump? The lesser of two evils?
SANDERS: Well, if you look-- No, I wouldn't describe it, but that's what the American people are saying. If you look at the favorability ratings of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, both of them have very, very high unfavorables. You're not going to disagree with me on that.
STEPHANOPOULOS: There's no question about that, absolutely.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Let me just go on, though, cause our poll also does show-- It does show that, for sure, our brand new poll. It also show-- has some evidence that your contest is creating some challenges that could hurt the Democrats in November. Secretary Clinton is only running even with Donald Trump among 18-29-year-olds. That's a big drop for her. And 20 percent of your supporters now say they'd vote for Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton. That's a big jump since March. If this nomination fight doesn't turn out as you hope, are you confident you're going to be able to convince your supporters to choose Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump?
SANDERS: You know-- Well, two things: Number one, it is the function of every candidate, Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, to reach out to the American people and make the case why they should be supported, and I have every confidence that if Hillary Clinton is prepared to stand up to the greed of corporate America and Wall Street, is prepared to be really strong on the issue of climate change, support, as I do, a tax on carbon, is prepared to say that the United States of America should join the rest of the industrialized world and guarantee health care to all people, paid family and medical leave, is prepared to say that the grotesque level of income and wealth inequality today in America, where almost all new income and wealth is going to the top one percent, if she is strong on those issues, yeah, I think she will win and win by a large vote. But if she is not, she's going to have her problems.
I think the reason we are doing so well is that the American people know that if elected president, Bernie Sanders will stand up, fight for working people, and take on the greed of Wall Street and corporate America.

(23,156 posts)demanding Sanders end his campaign, the Hillary supporters will tell that poster that Hillary herself thinks it's okay for Bernie to stay in.
Just as she did until the last primary some eight years ago.

(90,061 posts)Sanders will back Clinton, if she wins, but he's going to make her earn it, and that is good for her and good for him and good for everybody who wants a better governed country. And we should back them too, as they argue, and as they come together for the fight ahead.

(45,319 posts)ever been asked to drop out and that the demand was unique to her. When asked why that was she suggested bias of some form but would not conjecture openly about what motivate this treatment she said was given only to her, treatment her own supporters heaped on Sanders since before the first ballot was cast. 'It's historically unprecedented' she said. So according to Hillary History, this is just the second time any primary candidate has faced calls to drop out, she was the first ever, now Bernie is second ever.
