2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe Bernie Clown Show Continues: He rails against superdelegates, then says they should support him
Jake Tapper grilled Bernie Sanders on CNNs State of the Union today over whether his continued attacks against Hillary Clinton hurt the Democrats in the fall.
Sanders continued to make arguments about the Democratic party being too out-of-touch, but Tapper brought up just how unlikely it is that he would actually achieve the majority of the pledged delegates.
He confronted Sanders over whether he believes the candidate with the majority of delegates heading into the convention should be the Democratic nominee. Sanders, who minutes earlier railed against the unfair superdelegate system, said that superdelegates should be taking an objective look at which candidate would be better in the fall.
Tapper said, With all due respect, sir, she has more votes than you and she has more pledged delegates.

(50,986 posts)constructs,' especially in this election, when there is a palpable instability in the air.
Republicans of the sort who liked Eisenhower just could not possibly be the Republicans of the sort who like Trump or Ted Cruz or Rick Santorum or all the rest of the macabre flock of sociopaths the GOP has been nominating for some decades now.
Hillary Clinton says her campaign is about "being stronger together," but she cavorts with people who are not hearing that message at all, and in many cases, strive mightily to ignore it. Many Democrats are not Clinton Democrats. Sanders has not captured all of those Democrats, but he's persuaded quite a few of us. Visionary public servants don't come along all the time. They appear uncommonly and voters don't always welcome them very warmly.
Institutional constructs -- major political parties included -- are too often among the unwelcoming when meaningful reform makes a rare pass near the political orbit.

(1,820 posts)People have been hunting for Big Foot for decades and have not found one - simply because it does not exist. Neither do the "incidents" of which you speak.
Yet, I gave you true incidents of Hillary and her beliefs - I have many more. But I find if someone does not address the first two there is no point in putting forth any others.
If you can explain how she has EVER supported gays I would like to hear that. As Secretary of State she made them remove Parent 1 and Parent 2 on childrens passports because she felt it should be a man and woman. Look here is a link on a site which is Dem and not some right wing rag!!!

Who made the decision that State will not use the terms mother and father and instead substitute parent one and two? Clinton wrote in an email to staff on Jan. 8, 2011. The email was released Wednesday by the State Department as part of an ongoing dump of emails that Clinton sent from a personal account during her time as secretary of state.
I can find many incidents proving that Clinton does not support Gays or others...it was not even much of a "hunt".
This is the problem with Clinton supporters - you give us NO reason to support her and she certainly has indicated she does not want our vote!

You honestly do not see that as like..... hmmmm, well, how about a poor strategic move, running a campaign and all.
I get it. He is suppose to be able to insult us all and accuse us of shit that didn't happen. Trash our candidate and everyone who supports her.
And he demands our vote, as he now talks about overturning our vote at the convention. Ya think maybe I am not making shit up. Just pissed, lol.

Once we get to the convention, we can work for unity, and I believe it will be the responsibility of both camps to come together. That's my take.

I voted in the MN Caucus which is the system we had in MN this year. I also wrote state legislators asking them to give us primaries in the future. It isn't a contradiction to participate in a flawed process and to want a better process next time.

(35,619 posts)Sanders said that over 400 Super Delegates endorsed Clinton before he announced; Super Delegates should wait longer to endorse. He also said that they should consider that he polls better against Trump.
Watch the video on that webpage for yourself and you'll see there isn't a contradiction.

(68,825 posts)First of all...the supers endorsed Hillary in 08 as well...she was a popular senator, unlike Sanders. But they switched when Obama won the most delegates...and Clinton conceded and endorsed. Secondly, sorry Bernie we don't use polls to choose our nominee...and you may think it is ok to overturn...millions of primary votes but people who truly believe in democracy don't.
Silver_Witch

(34,825 posts)President Obamas campaign has agreed to pay a $375,000 fine to the Federal Election Commission, among the largest penalties in the agencys history.
The fine was imposed after an audit of the campaigns books showed that it failed to report the identities of donors who gave large checks in the weeks before the 2008 election, according to a copy of the agreement between the FEC and the presidents campaign.
The document shows that the Obama campaign failed to disclose the identities of donors responsible for $2 million in contributions in the weeks ahead of the election. The campaign also misreported the dates of $85 million in other contributions.
In addition, the Obama campaign also kept $1.3 million in contributions that were above the legal maximum allowed for a federal campaign, failing to return them within the 60 days required by law. The campaign kept almost $874,000 of those donations until the FEC discovered they were unlawful.
