Is Sanders holding out in hopes that Clinton might yet face charges

from the Justice Department so he can replace her as the Democratic nominee? His petty vendetta against Clinton looks more a bad case of sour grapes than the rational and sound judgement of someone who aspires to become the US President. He struck out when the FBI found no reasonable cause for further action against Clinton, but now it looks like he's going to hang on just in case there's the off chance that the Justice Department might decide to challenge the FBI's recommendation and pursue their own legal actions against Clinton.

"Sanders also weighed in at a press conference on the FBI's decision not to recommend charges against Clinton for sending classified information over her private servers as secretary of State.

"I think you’ve heard me say from Day One that there is a process in terms of the investigation regarding Secretary Clinton and the emails," Sanders said. "Yesterday was an important part of that process. Now we wait to hear from the Justice Department."

I'm sure he's known all along that an indictment wouldn't happen. He's not expecting to swoop in and take over the nomination - he's been concentrating on getting progressive principles included in the platform.

For the losing candidate, Sanders has already achieved some exorodinary concessions from Hillary. However, that still doesn't preclude him from ending his one person campaign and endorsing her, otherwise it comes across more like extortion and blackmail.

His hand picked supporters would still be on the various committees and working on his behalf even when he finally concedes. He can still negotiate with Clinton, and perhaps from even a stronger position of influence as her outspoken ally following his endorsement.

I'm just making the point that the reason he hasn't conceded is not that he's hoping Hillary will be indicted. Maybe he's not going about getting platform concessions in the best way, but his motivation is clearly getting platform concessions, not hoping for the deus ex machina of an indictment that everybody knew wouldn't happen.

He's not trying for the nomination, but working on influencing the platform. Whether you agree with the way he's doing it is irrelevant.

Bernie, in the mean time, looks forward to step # 569 that may still give him the nomination.

Also, just because Sanders finished second in no way means he would be given the nomination. Not how it works. That nomination would likely be handed to Elizabeth Warren.

I just saw him on Wolf's show, and Wolf tried to get him to criticize HC for her judgement regarding this inquiry. He said HC was wrong on her vote for AMUF. Wolf asked him if she should get briefings while in the GE. Of course, he said.
