2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumTea Party or Sanders Supporter? Can't always tell the difference
I'll start by saying that I supported Bernie Sanders all the way up to the point that he appears that he can not Prevail in the nominating process for the Democratic Party.
But now the level of hatred being directed at Hillary Clinton by some of these same people that were my friends in supporting Bernie has reached a level that is almost like the tea party. There is this feeling of hatred for Hillary as if she has some Demon from hell coming to bring Armageddon.
I had my initial preference, but I think she is a good person. I think Bernie said she is a good person and he did not lie when he said it.
If I'm going to come up with any conspiracy theories it would be mainly about some right-wing organizations trying to sew seeds of division in the Democratic Party by fueling the vitriol that Bernie supporters feel after he lost. I'm pretty much convinced a little bit of that is going on right now. I'm more convinced of that than that Hillary had some master plan to steal the election. She sort of had an advantage from the beginning and there is some truth in that you have to deal with.

(12,689 posts)The 2008 archives have some choice words about Obama. It got pretty ridiculous when Obama got the nomination.

A simple Google search will tell you what you want to know very quickly, if you like.

(28,349 posts)Thank you! This is obvious and true. Only a few select chronic malcontents and republicans are left pushing an agenda to the contrary.

(260 posts)I would estimate that 75% of the Bernie supporters are not the type that divide the party. This website is by name devoted to the Democratic party and in my view seeks to help elect a candidate for the Democratic party to office. To call out a few people who are trying to spew hatred and vitriol in a way that divides the party may very well be a worthwhile endeavor.
I was a little sad too when many didn't get the nomination. But now I'm ready to get a Democrat into the White House again. We have a presumptive nominee and it's time to move forward. If some people are going to try to sabotage this, then I think they are not supporting our party anymore. As I said, some of the memes I see being circulated are so hateful that it is as if they are from some French group, possibly a right-wing group, that wants to take down Hillary at all costs.

(5,275 posts)I cannot imagine many. I have been a solid Bernie supporter and am in no way attracted to the tea party. The less far out of them are basically libertarians who intersect with true progressives on defense spending and pot and no other issue I can imagine.

(260 posts)That is good and many now switched to supporting the presumptive nominee. That's good they are on our side. But of course this chart leaves room for those other ones! Haha
