It's about competence, not "excitement." It's not a beauty contest. Tim Kaine is a very accomplished Harvard grad having served at every level of government. He is ready. He helps bring purple Virginia. And he has won many elections, so I guess he was "exciting" enough to do that.

We have Liza warren who is more than ready as she already commands nation recognition.
We have Cory Booker who could gut Chris Christie.
And last, but FAR from least, Brown can help bring Ohio.

(6,716 posts)as the VP pick. I think he can help with closing the non-college educated white male demographic. The fluent Spanish is an absolute plus for Spanish language tv interviews. He's won several elections for a reason.
One downside: the gifts revelation.
Edited to add: That was a very impressive interview. His Spanish is fabulous!
