Donald Trump likes to brag that he attended the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, but while he is proud of that, the students and faculty are embarrassed that he is an alumni. In an open letter, students and faculty both past and present condemned Trump for his hateful and bigoted rhetoric and expressed outrage that he is humiliating the school by associating it with his ignorance and intolerance and rejected his use of the school name in his campaign.
Heres the full letter via Medium:

However, we have been deeply disappointed in your candidacy.
We, proud students, alumni, and faculty of Wharton, are outraged that an affiliation with our school is being used to legitimize prejudice and intolerance. Although we do not aim to make any political endorsements with this letter, we do express our unequivocal stance against the xenophobia, sexism, racism, and other forms of bigotry that you have actively and implicitly endorsed in your campaign.
The Wharton community is a diverse community. We are immigrants and children of immigrants, people of color, Muslims, Jews, women, people living with or caring for those with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ community. In other words, we represent the groups that you have repeatedly denigrated, as well as their steadfast friends, family, and allies.
We recognize that we are fortunate to be educated at Wharton, and we are committed to using our opportunity to make America and the world a better place for everyone. We are dedicated to promoting inclusion not only because diversity and tolerance have been repeatedly proven to be valuable assets to any organizations performance, but also because we believe in mutual respect and human dignity as deeply held values. Your insistence on exclusion and scapegoating would be bad for business and bad for the American economy. An intolerant America is a less productive, less innovative, and less competitive America.

(84,072 posts)Question. If! Big if, not sure I want it. If EW is VP pick. Who do you think is capable of a run in her spot?
Maura Healey could be a good choice for Mass.

(135,425 posts)Joe Kennedy (young Joe in Barney's congressional seat) has said, straight up, that if EW is VP, he is "interested" which could quite possibly mean he'll get the goose to be elevated to the gig.
One of my personal favorites is Linda Dorcena Forry--I have no idea if she would even be interested in the gig, but I think she's just swell--and she's the future. No one runs a better St. Patrick's Day Breakfast (she was the first woman to ever do it, and the first Haitian, to boot! She is married to the most Irish looking guy going, too, which checked the "tradition" block--she had absolutely NO FEAR doing it, too--and anyone who can handle "The Machine" in Boston with the aplomb she demonstrated could kick some ass, take some names, and make some friends and allies in the US Senate--she's smart as hell, superbly educated...the only question is, would she do it?). That's a woman who can be as famous as she wants, I think--she's got 'the stuff.'
I'm guessing a lot of the other "usual suspects" will come out and do some exploring--we've got a pretty deep bench here in MA.
Of course, we have a GOP governor, so we have to watch that end of it.

(84,072 posts)First I will say I doubt EW wants it. I may be wrong. I really like her where she is.
I would love another woman to hold the Senate seat, also if Joe ran it would be another seat up for grabs. We can't keep having special elections. They don't work out all that well for us.
Our dear Gov Charlie. I hear he wants Warrens seat and could well win it as he is sooooo popular!

They might not spend a lot of time "thinking it through...!"
