Related: About this forumMichelle Obama's speech to DNC should discuss her childhood in Slovenia
With a straight face, Michelle should open her remarks with:
I was born in Slovenia, a small, beautiful and then communist country in Central Europe. My sister Ines, who is an incredible woman and a friend, and I were raised by my wonderful parents. My elegant and hard-working mother Amalia introduced me to fashion and beauty. My father Viktor instilled in me a passion for business and travel.
Then take a pause and say something like: sorry, wrong speech.
I would really love it if her opening remarks at the Democratic convention humorously poked fun at the Melania plagiarism controversy in some way.

(22,077 posts)1. That's funny!
And Mrs. Obama could definitely pull it off with class and humor.
ETA: I note yellowcanine's post #2 and I agree that Mrs. Obama is too classy for such a stunt.
She could deliver the bit at the WH Correspondence Dinner, next year as a guest.

(35,707 posts)2. Michelle would never do that. She is too classy for that.
Michelle would not shame another political wife.
