2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumBreaking: Hillary will announce VP pick this afternoon. (MSNBC)
Announcement to be made by text. It will be Kaine, according to Andrea Mitchell.

(3,226 posts)But if it is Kaine then texting it will do nothing, he has been talked about for a long time. No surprise no big deal now, if it is not Kaine then there will be Big Buzz

(36,926 posts)Seems to happen every other day now. Maybe announcing by text is the best way, under the circumstances.
femmocrat
(28,394 posts)If they even intended to show it... but MSNBC sort of indicated that they did.
CNN is now reporting "multiple dead and wounded." This will dominate today's news cycle. Not to sound callous. Prayers for those affected.
MoonRiver
(36,926 posts)Should probably start with condolences for the victims. So sad to hear this news, again.

(30,481 posts)That metric holds little weight in the argument you just made.
You seem to be saying someone outside of Warren, Booker, Kaine, etc. The people that have been "talked about for a long time".

(3,226 posts)That was what I was trying to say

(30,481 posts)I get it. This week has been a "long time" for many of us considering the RNC.

(11,607 posts)I think Clinton vetted her to make it look like she was under consideration to appease Bernie supporters.

(30,481 posts)Warrens endorsement was always the golden egg. Sanders supporters have nothing to do with that aspect in my opinion and Warren did not endorse Sanders. Warren was always the first choice for those of us on the left and we love seeing Clinton and Warren fostering their relationship.

(3,182 posts)Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Especially when compared to what Warren or Booker or Perez or anyone else brings along.
Seriously, a conservative white guy is a zilch, especially when compared to an all woman ticket, or an African American on the ticket, or a Latino on the ticket. Kaine is just blaaaaaaaah, with a capitol B.
femmocrat
(28,394 posts)And she doesn't need any help from choosing a more progressive VP. Also Kaine is from southern VA which is more conservative to appeal to southern voters.
Why doesn't anyone ever want to appeal to northern liberals?
Don't kill the messenger, thank you.
Glitterati
(3,182 posts)Kaine brings nothing to this ticket.
As a southerner (tho not the least bit conservative) I can guarandamntee you Kaine isn't going to bring in any of the conservative voters in Georgia.
I want Warren, but would be happy with Castro too.
But, another pasty white guy on a ticket with the first female Presidential candidate - way to step on your glass ceiling message, Hillary!

Heck not only did she come to my small town in New York State this primary season, she sent Bill, too.

(2,461 posts)for capturing #neverTrump and a disaster for the progressives that already feel kicked to the curb. Dangerous gamble but I'm sure it has all been weighed out.
Question - Why would she be campaigning with Warren this afternoon and announce Kaine just before? Doesn't make sense to me. Maybe Warren after all?
