Related: About this forumAnti-establishment election = Americans are angry
But before all Americans were angry, Rs were angry. Specifically, tea partiers were angry...
And with tea pariters, being angry was code for "I'm pissed that a black guy is president."
Which is why Hillary was smart to reset this election to be about experience and competence by picking Tim Kaine as her running mate.
Don't let yourself get manipulated by the RW bullshit that you are angry. Think about everything Obama has accomplished, and ask yourself if he's made you angry. Are you angry that gays have more rights now? Are you angry that unemployment is low and that gas prices are cheap? Are you pissed that the stock market has soared...or that we're not in any major ground wars...or that bin Laden is dead? Does it make you livid that the auto industry was saved?
If not, don't let them tell you you're angry, because what you're really saying is that you're pissed off a black guy is president.
Yes, sorry to say, but the racism is just that overt once you look at the code words the haters use to express their bigotries.
Remove the hatred of Obama from the election cycle and what do the Rs have to run on? Nothing.
Don't get played.

(298,139 posts)my radar before today. I didn't know much about him except he was Gov of Virginia and now Senator Kaine.
But, much to my delightful surprise he is an excellent choice for Hillary's VP pick..
this is just a bit I've learned today..
http://www.rawstory.com/2016/07/here-are-six-things-you-probably-dont-know-about-vp-pick-tim-kaine/
2. He is fluent in Spanish
Kaine learned Spanish while living in Honduras in 1980. He took a year off from law school to work at a technical school with Jesuit missionaries.
In 2013, Kaine spoke in Spanish for almost 13 minutes on the floor of the Senate advocating for an immigration overhaul bill crafted by the bipartisan "Gang of Eight."
It marked the first time a senator gave an entire speech on the floor in a language that was not English, although others have spoken briefly in Spanish before.

I love that he was only in Honduras for a year way back when and yet he speaks fluent Espanol now!
Oh and this..
3. He has a son in the military
Kaine's son Nat is an active-duty Marine, which makes Kaine one of just a few members of Congress who have a child serving in the military.
In 2014, Kaine met with Virginia veterans at a momentous time in his son's military career, according to the Culpeper Star Exponent. "My son is an infantry officer who takes control of his first platoon Monday so these are issues that matter to me personally," he said. Perhaps as a result of his son's military experience, Kaine has focused on military and foreign policy in Congress, serving on the Senate Armed Services Committee.
In an interview on MSNBC's Morning Joe, Kaine criticized comments that GOP nominee Donald Trump made criticizing the military.
"When I hear Donald Trump say the American military is a disaster, I want to go through the screen and shake the guy," Kaine said in the interview. "We ought to have a commander in chief who talks about our troops with respect and gratitude."

He's not. He's a social justice progressive, the real kind, that knows civil and equal rights are a pillar of it

12. Suffice to say, Tim Kaine understands that the first rule of governing by coalition is being a good listener. That's why he's popular.

16. Those who complain about this pick by and large don't know him. Watch him win them over in the coming months. He will.

(68,868 posts)With a hostility never before experienced by any president, Obama has still managed to get much done... he got health care through and it is not a bad plan either. My own daughter is on it...it is better than my work-related plan. He took the student loans away fro the banks who were forcing kids to get cosigners even though the loans were subsidized and they redlined entire towns and counties. and those who are angry about college or income inequality...those who want single payer...it won't happen under Trump. Beat Trump with big number which gives Hillary the House/Senate and watch a liberal president take action...many think FDR was a born liberal. He was no such thing before he became president...the presidency shaped him. He was able to face down a conservative court and get his agenda through because the people elected Democrats to support him while in office. Sadly thanks to Greens and other malcontents...and the usual Democrats not bothering to voter off year, Obama had no such support. He still managed to do a great deal.
