2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumBernie is doing everything he can right now
To get Clinton elected.
And this is after he, frankly, has a right to be pissed at what was discovered in the leak.
I have to give him major credit for this address to his delegates.

(10,533 posts)not just the presidency, which is important. on the other hand, he created this "do or die" mentality among his supporters, and he started out his speech by essentially stumping again. he also didn't respond all that strongly when his supporters booed clinton/kaine.

(7,638 posts)But after months of fanning the flames, its not surprising his supporters are crazed people who boo when told we need to elect clinton. He created this. Its not unlike the gop and the tea party that they can not control anymore.

(6,716 posts)He fanned these flames and now they can't be contained.

(14,167 posts)He should be rightfully angry.
He has to validate the feelings of his supporters and ensure they aren't alienated. We don't win without them.
So he has to do a but of placating, but at the same time emphasize that if they want to have a chance of changing the system, we have to stop the fascist first!

(1,220 posts)Imagine Obama or Bill Clinton (in his prime) taking on this task...I would bet they would be much more successful.

He has unleashed nihilist forces that his mediocre speaking talents are unfit to quash.

(989 posts)trashing of EW, and badgering the super delegates and accusing her of stealing votes. We all have something we have a right to be "pissed" about. But that doesn't help us and there is no evidence at all that Debbie ever DID anything to interfere with the voting. But it's ok to accuse Hillary of anything and everything and expect and even demand that she and her supporters suck it up. I think she has been exemplary in her attitude and her behavior toward Bernie and his supporters...up to now. It's time for her to take the gloves off and stop sucking it up. The minds are already made up. If she doesn't have the voters to win as this day, she won't. No one's mind is going to really be changed despite what they say.
After hearing Kaine speak and learning about his life's work and service, if you can boo that ticket which is in stark contrast to the Trump/Pence ticket, there is little to be gained in seeking your support.

(2,900 posts)and I believe he will. He seems to understand that Trump is fascism and that Hillary Clinton is a good Democrat.
He could act as an anti-Trump surrogate on a lot of TV shows. He's started doing just that, and he could make a real difference.

(15,445 posts)but his mediocre speaking skills, or perhaps his residual bitterness, appear to render him incapable of making that fact clear to his deadend "followers".

(28,270 posts)But some of his so-called supporters were allowed way to much time to fester and grow and now we see the results.
The MSM is going to be all over this 24/7 no doubt.
Sadly damage is going to be done to Clinton/Kaine because of it.
How much remains to be seen.
