(11,644 posts)He did promote plenty of anti-Hillary sentiment because he was in a contest and I believe he really did want to win and was up against a very strong opponent, but now that cat is out of the bag with some of the supporters--there is no putting it back in.
I believe at this point Bernie should squarely face the residual negativity and call it out. It was politics--nothing more (all is fair in love and war--and politics, right?). He is behind her and Kaine now and we have a fascist dictator wannabe to send back to his gold-plated tower.
Time to grab this thing head on.

(137 posts)I've heard rumors that some of Bernie's delegates plan on chanting "lock her up!" when Hillary's name is put into nomination on the convention floor, in order to embarrass her in the most humiliating way possible, by using the chant from the RNC against our own party's nominee.
I wasn't sure I believed it until I heard about the way these delegates acted at that breakfast this morning and now the way they are booing Bernie himself.

(10,853 posts)And I mean anyone who believes that 8 years of Trump wouldn't gut the U.S. and the Nation's constitutional guarantees (which sadly we too often take for granted) is dangerously deluded and/or as unhinged as Donald Trump. Cutting off your nose to spite your face is childish and counterproductive. Anyone who followed Sanders and believed his message is spitting on both with that attitude.
There's a reason Trump loves Putin, a former KGB officer. The Donald wants Putin's Iron Fist. He wants the power of the man who steals shamelessly from his own people, who throws all dissidents in prison (or worse), who lies with impunity all the while strutting and preening like a peacock.
Russian exiles tell the horrifying truth about Putin and what he's done to their country They're warning us now.

(5,611 posts)for giving the media and republicans a talking point to focus on ALL DAY AND NIGHT. CNN is hysterically yelling that DWS had to be escorted out by security, the clip of Bernie getting booed is being played over and over and over, and CNN hysterically discussing Trump's YUUGE "bounce." CNN hysterically discussing how "anti-Hillary" the crowd is -- not anti-Trump. And now they are showing endless loops of "Bernie supporters" screaming and booing and waving signs.
I am sorry but any idiot who was booing Bernie and contributing to the media hysteria is NOT a friend of the Democratic Party and is actively contributing to the election of Trump. Any idiot booing Bernie is contributing to Donald Trump nominating justices to the Supreme Court. Fuck these idiots.

(5,621 posts)A huge amount of people are in economic sinkholes which are getting deeper every day. Under Obama, I lost $20 a month in entitlements, when you live on $758 a month, $20 is a lot of money.
Bernie talked about ECONOMIC problems, which is one of the very reasons that he resonated across party lines. Hillary is a SOCIAL liberal, as is Kaine, which will not stop the decline of income. Both are ambivalent about the environment and both are supporters of fracking and the TPP. (I know that Hillary said she was against it, but she was under a lot of pressure to say so.)
Democrats used to be for the working people, whether blue or white collar, but that is no longer true. All you have to do is look at what has been happening in the last 8 years.
Let's face it, when you are losing your home, you don't care if it is a Nazi who helps you save it or a Gandhi. You hope for a Gandhi, but you will take anyone if it means you can take care of your family.
Trump says he is against the TPP and has said so from the beginning. He also says he is against NAFTA, a trade deal which lost many of them their jobs. A trade deal which was touted by Hillary's husband. They trusted him and they lost their job, they trained for another job, and lost that. I know one guy who went through 3 training cycles and is now unemployed again. He is 55 years old and for all intents and purposes is a broken man. Bernie gave him hope that he could find a job again, and that hope has been dashed. He will never vote for Hillary, he sees her as part of the problem. He is angry at the way the Democrats treated Bernie and has quit the party. He was a life long Democrat.
Others look at Hillary with the environment in mind. It is actually our greatest threat, much more than ISIS. We have reached a tipping point, a point that we, a species, may never survive. We are losing insects, which is food for the animals at the bottom of the food chain. Hillary has promoted fracking in other countries. We are losing clean water. When our leaders think that war is more important than the threat of species extinction, something is wrong. Poor people are being sacrificed to the war and environment gods. People with money can move to a more hospitable environment, poor people can't.
Bernie was a hope from many factions of the populace. He was booed to show their dissatisfaction with out come of the primary. The feel they were robbed of all hope in the future. If you were in their place, could any of you blame them? You are comfortable, at the moment, you have money and the ability to change your future living conditions.
I remember both Gore's and Kerry's candidacy, and how supporters were sure that they couldn't lose. We are in the same place in history. The Democratic Party again thinks that it can't lose, as they turn a deaf ear to the very people they need to get them a win.
