Related: About this forumAs a Bernie supporter, I did NOT want this
Ok, I was a hold-out, but jeez-o-pete, Trump cannot win, even Bernie says that!
Please know, that all of us who supported Bernie are not like this!

(11,243 posts)And also, those people who disrupted Cumming's speech just did incalculable damage to Sanders' causes. Any seriousness and bargaining power they brought to the table just got thrown away. That was not smart, tactically.

Bernie has my heart, but Hillary has my vote. Do I think she's perfect? No. But that doesn't mean I can't vote for her.

(3,072 posts)Even most of that 10% of Sanders supporters that say they will never vote for Hillary likely don't see protests at the convention as a good thing for their movement's future. For most people, it just looks like people that want to disrupt, no matter what. I think few of Sanders supporters just want to tear everything apart and then walk away.

(1,048 posts)This is a small but very loud contingent of Bernie or Bust folks. Some aren't even totally bust because I believe some will come around to Clinton but there will for sure be holdouts. But I know this doesn't represent most of Bernie fans who fought the good fight and who aren't thrilled with Clinton but who will vote for her. It does not make me generalize with a broad brush Bernie Sanders or most of his supporters.

(18,402 posts)please understand that you are not just voting for the candidate, but just as much for his or her delegates. If you were at a caucus, you saw some of these delegates. You also saw their behavior. Maybe you never imagined it would come to this. Maybe you thought the phenomenon of "Bernie Bros" was a myth, or simply a small minority. It was not. When everyone said "I'm voting for the candidate, not his supporters" you were only half right. When you failed to take Sanders to task for not tamping this kind of behavior down at any point during the campaign, you essentially turned your back on the civil compact. When it was repeatedly affirmed by the candidate that this convention would be "contested," even though there was no chance of a real contest, you accepted it without thinking about the repercussions of such stoking.
This did not come out of nowhere. It has been brewing for a year, with promises of "revolution" and acceptance of bullying behavior.
It's really sad, and I know you don't approve of it. But I knew this was bound to come, and I find it hard to accept that there is not blame to be shared for this, beyond a few bad apples. And now our convention is a wreck, and if Donald Trump is not defeated, I will count this among one of the major reasons for that happening.
Again, I'm sorry for you and know you, yourself, are not like this. But I can't get rid of my anger about it.
