(7,820 posts)I understand that's a difficult concept for some.

(10,291 posts)He would have been great though.
We were really in a win/win this primary

(35,015 posts)A rare individual indeed, who keeps his word.

(6,457 posts)because he supports Hillary
joshcryer
(62,287 posts)It's part of his stump.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)There is very little enthusiasm for her from his people.

(58,724 posts)He got thunderous applause and support in the first part of his speech. When he started speaking positively about Hillary, that completely changed.

(58,724 posts)There is not a lot of enthusiasm to get behind his support for Hillary.

(58,724 posts)But you definitely can hear some boos when he says good things about Hillary.
JRLeft
(7,010 posts)Listen to the speech. There is a tepid reaction to his comments in support of Hillary. A mix of boos and mild applause.

(58,724 posts)Are you not watching it on tv?
There was applause and there was booing.

(58,724 posts)I do think Bernie gave a great speech.

(31,011 posts)It's his stump speech with an endorsement. I'm happy with it.
Joe the Revelator
(14,915 posts)her. He couldn't have done a better job making the case to his supporters.

(27,787 posts)... the most disgruntled of his supporters.
The structure of his remarks are really forcing them to boo Trump and cheer Hillary.
joshcryer
(62,287 posts)There are still some rowdy losers there but they are nothing.
JoePhilly
(27,787 posts)... and he's ensuring that the disgruntled can't just cheer or boo randomly. He's mixing things up.
It reminds me of how Bill Clinton set up the GOP during the various state of the union speeches he gave. He'd deliver a line that made them cheer, and then quickly say something that would dare them to boo puppies or apple pie.
And they'd be stuck with no idea whether to boo or cheer. I think I hear that happening here. They might be looking for a chance to boo Hillary, but he's not really giving them a chance to do it.
joshcryer
(62,287 posts)Like just now Sanders mentioned reigning in the drug companies, a Democratic Party Plank for over a decade but some idiots booed.
How the fuck do you handle morons like that.
tallahasseedem
(6,716 posts)He's laying it all out there...especially with the Supreme Court!
It looks like he made the turn, REALLY had to put a thread through a needle.
JoePhilly
(27,787 posts)This could have been a disaster, and its not over yet ... but he's doing very very well.
To boo Hillary while he speaks, you'd end up booing the sick, the poor, the disabled.

(2,510 posts)into reasons to support Hillary!
I think Hillary's big supporters ought to be pleased.
I'm A-OK with it, if I need to say so.
JoePhilly
(27,787 posts)He's doing a great job.
He's the anti-Cruz!
SeattleVet
(5,485 posts)He is doing exactly as I expected. He just came out more strongly for Clinton than half of the Clinton backers that spoke earlier.
As a veteran, I have strongly supported Bernie (as he has, through his entire political career, supported us). Tonight he gave even his strongest supporters many reasons to support Clinton through the election.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Senator Sanders! You are a true mensch.
nolabear
(42,009 posts)Yes, far left and yes, revolutionary but he's a senator and has worked within the establishment forever. Unlike his inexperienced but idealistic followers he's got life experience and street smarts of a certain kind.
I like that. But time to use it in the way it can be used and not in the way it can't.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)There does not seem to be a lot of enthusiasm for doing so.

(29,152 posts)But people get emotional, and I suppose that's understandable. Some of his supporters got emotional and invested to the point that they were deluded into thinking he might not do it. Some of HRC's supporters got emotional and invested to the point that they were deluded into thinking he might not do it. Campaigns are emotional and draining, and I suppose that's understandable. But here we have a unifying and galvanizing event in the great lineup of speeches tonight.
On to hard work! On to victory!

(80,708 posts)Something like 90% I think, by most polling.
I don't know why some people are surprised or if they didn't understand how primaries work, but I think any Sanders holdouts who don't cross over before November are going to be as fringe and irrelevant as 2008's PUMA crowd.
