2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumLet's be clear about the DNC e-mail leak
"#DNCLeak: WikiLeaks chose the publishing date. As usual, we published as soon as the docs were verified & as fast as resources permitted.
1:33 PM - 24 Jul 2016"
A year's worth of e-mails, which just coincidentally happened to be leaked 24 hours before the start of the Democratic National Convention when they would most significantly impact the race.
Looks like bullshit, smells like bullshit, it's bullshit.
Yes, the DNC favored the long standing democrat over the person who has spent a quarter century in politics and only became a democrat just prior to running for POTUS a year ago.
(THAT IS NOT A SLAM ON BERNIE, I voted for him, I have repeatedly stuck up for how HE handled himself during the entire primary, and he pulled one of the most remarkable political moments in modern history last night in successfully turning the room).
What exactly did the DNC do to improperly influence the primary?
The absence of any answer to that question reflects in the timing of the "leak."
This is the second BS e-mail bushwack job on the Hillary campaign in three weeks.

While its impossible to know whether systemic pro-Hillary Clinton bias at the DNC was decisive in the 2016 Democratic primary race, we now know beyond any doubt that such a bias not only existed, but was endemic and widespread. DNC officials worked to plant pro-Clinton stories, floated the idea of using Sanders secular Judaism against him in the South, and routinely ran PR spin for Clinton, even as the DNC claimed over and over it was neutral in the primary.

(20,709 posts)Aha. The author of the article is Kim LaCapria, who retweets Glenn Greenwald. Looks like we got to the bottom of that one.

(68,868 posts)No, we don't know that based on catty emails between 7 individuals. Their slant has really been harshly anti-Clinton during the entire 2016 election cycle.

(36,063 posts)There are thousands of emails and as Donna Brazille has stated, many more to come.
Let's let the DNC organize an investigation and when that's done, let them decide on what's proper and improper and what further consequences, if any, should result.
Personally, I don't think DWS would be gone if this was just an image problem for the convention. The insiders have much greater awareness. There have been comments made by a handful of resigning DNC co-chairs since the primary races got underway that suggest problems in DNC conduct. She resigned against a context best known, almost exclusively known, to the DNC. It involves not only alleged improper emails but very probably also the questionably improper alleged money-laundering of donations. All that needs to be investigated and resolved.

(19,460 posts)I have heard rumors among the computer security crowd that both campaign emails may have been hacked. If this is true, just wait until we see some of Weaver's emails, Fallon's emails etc............

(3,284 posts)that's exactly what I was thinking. It's only Clinton...as long as it makes her look bad, they'll be all over it.
I can't imagine how rigidly she must have to live her life, always knowing that she's being watched 24/7 for any slipups.
I'd go nuts living like that.

(14,626 posts)do not control the DNC and the do not have the DNC's powers.
Weaver and Fallon are not chartered or expected to be neutral parties, where the DNC is supposed to be all about that.

(13,071 posts)A couple of stupid DNC employees suggested something really stupid, and were shot down immediately by someone less stupid. The media has become frenzied in their spin of the facts to create a story. And so many people are willing to make the ultimate connection with no basis in fact.

(43,893 posts)5 Times Debbie Wasserman Schultz Violated DNC Rules and Stacked the Deck in Favor of Clinton
1. Scheduling primary debates to garner as few viewers as possible
2. Grassroots Clinton field offices co-located at DNC offices
3. Dismantling Bernie Sanders campaign over one staffers mistake
4. DNC finance chair caught raising money for Clinton
5. The DNC lined up superdelegates for Clinton before first debate

All the time denying there was any bias. The e-mails just put the lie to that denial.
Evergreen Emerald
(13,071 posts)1. Clinton was better at debates than Sanders. The debate schedule favored Sanders
2. Grassroots offices traditionally share offices with DNC...not an issue
3. Bernie's campaign "mistake" was purposeful deceitful cheating. Clinton's campaign stayed silent while Sanders campaign stole their work. And DNC was too lenient in response to their cheating behavior.
Regarding the other two allegations: I don't have enough information to answer these two charges. Likely they are also overblown and twisted.
Sore losers blame the system.

Had the DNC been on top of the power structure, like NJ's governors are, DWS would remain in office.

Obvious whoever was in the DNC stealing files for a year, didn't expect an expert security company to reveal the hackers. The security business and FBI could have known and been working on this hack for many months. The same groups have been caught hacking many government files over the past year.
