(16,396 posts)And fought for Suffrage and contraception/choice. I get preachy when I see younger generations take these hard-won rights for granted. Yes, we have a ways to go, but we've also come a long way due to their blood, sweat, tears and lives. God, I'm all emo today.

(10,854 posts)how hard women fought to gain the right the vote. I just caught 'Suffragette' on HBO which covers the British movement. 'Iron-Jawed Angels' (think that's the name) is another historical look at the movement in the US. What these women went through is utterly amazing.
And now, we've just nominated the first woman to a major party in this country. Nearly a century later. But better late than never, as they say. I suspect Thursday is going to be an over-the-top emotional moment for many of us.
I'm stocking up on tissues!
