Related: About this forumCan't anything be done to speed up Donald's audit?
It seems that, in the interest of a fair and open election, this should be a priority for both sides.

(6,551 posts)The IRS says that there's no problem in Trump releasing his returns whenever he wants.
They could wrap up the audit today, and Trump would still refuse to release them.

(6,551 posts)But I don't think a new excuse would hurt him much.
Trump has said so many outrageous things. How much has it hurt him?
Fault the media for this. But their priority is a tight race which = high ratings, more clicks = more profits.

(62,444 posts)Even if he is being audited, that doesn't mean he can't release the returns.
It's a bullshit excuse.

(1,997 posts)I remember hearing a couple months ago that the audit does not prohibit him from releasing his tax returns. But I've heard nothing since. This tax issue needs to be discussed loudly and often.

(62,444 posts)At the end of the day, the election is about winning the most votes.
Most voters are not basing their decision on whether a candidate has or has not released their taxes.
It bears repeating that he won't release them, but ultimately is not a central issue.

(466 posts)Maybe I'm wrong but I think he's using the 'Big Lie' technique that his hero Hitler came up with. He'll just keep doubling down on this. He didn't want to show his returns in the primary because so he lied he was being audited. Probably didn't know you can still release taxes while being audited. Can't wait to see how absurd this lie will get.
