EDITORIAL: Hillary may have improved her odds after Democratic National Convention speech

It was Hillary's turn, after four days of showcase marketing. Hollywood-quality videos introduced headline speakers, with no less than Morgan Freeman the documentary version of God narrating Hillary's life story before she became the first woman to accept a major party's nomination for president. As usual, Democrats schooled Republicans in putting on a show.
Only Shakespeare could invent Bill and Hillary Clinton's turbulent-but-lasting marriage, but only a coarsened cynic would hear Bill's "I met a girl" speech Tuesday and question his love for her or his belief in her passion for public service.
President Barack Obama's speech Wednesday was masterfully delivered by a man dedicated to keeping the White House in Democratic control. First lady Michelle Obama's speech was equally strong.
Chelsea Clinton, like Bill, expressed unequivocal confidence in a mother she loves. Both parties' nominees have extraordinary family members who humanized candidates demonized by the opposition and the press.
