Related: About this forumJobs, Jobs, Jobs and Republican lying about them
We've long argued that the Republican Party is no longer a legitimate governing party. Never mind whether we agree with them on any particular policy issue, they are simply no longer a serious organization.
Two reports from U.S. State Dept. and CBO on Keystone XL and Obamacare provide two opportunities for Republicans to lie, again, about both...
Snip.......
Never mind whether you agree with the Republican position on either of those two policies. The fact that the party feels it necessary to blatantly lie about what's in each of those reports, specifically with regard to "job creation," in order to advocate for their own policy positions, underscores yet again that these are simply not serious people who are worth being taken seriously anymore...

(27,787 posts)If they don't control government entirely, they are perfectly happy if that government does nothing at all.
Which means, for Democrats to get anything at all done, we end up having to give them something.
Democrats want to govern, and do as much good as they can. The GOP does not.
The GOP does not care who gets hurt because of government in action. Democrats do.
In the end, Democrats are forced to make flawed deals because its the only way to make any progress whatsoever.
The GOP would be perfectly happy to do absolutely nothing.

(9,478 posts)half of the house, half of the governors, five members of scotus, and nearly half of the Senate. Their votes don't get rejected because they have an insane platform, indeed many elected Republicans would argue that is their mandate. What we know to be the real issue is that many Republican voters aren't familiar with their platform and are misinformed about the rest. Until the media rules are re-instated and corporate and dark money campaign limits put in place it's the devil we have to deal with.
