(19,537 posts)all just in the last month!
44% - 32%
41% - 31%
43% - 35%
Hmm.... Bernie seems to be getting the newer voters that are deciding! At this rate, the poll might even out in a couple of months if the differentials continue to drop by 2% each successive poll!

(154,021 posts)but I will grant you this. I am one of the few people taking Trump more seriously.
There are two reasons:
1.- He can self finance.
2.- We are at one of those populist moments, and he does appeal to more people than folks realize...
Not that I want him as President mind you, it would be a real nightmare. But I take him quite seriously. That said, I hope you are correct.
You assume no Democrats will vote for Sanders?
I'm saying Bernie winning the Democratic Party primary guarantees a Republican would win in the general election. Morons on the far left couldn't tell the difference between Al Gore and George W Bush to this day we are living those consequences
HappyMe
(20,277 posts)Wtf does Gore and Dubya have to do with this?
You're saying that Bernie winning the primary guarantees a Republican win. That means to me, that Dems won't show up. Or that the Clintonistas will sit home in a snit.

Bernie wouldn't pick anybody lousy for the Court.
His nomination gets us a Republican president Who would then give us somebody terrible
Broken record. A foolish one at that.

(34,648 posts)We are pretty evenly divided in this nation. There is no huge middle to grab anymore, this will be a base election and voting AGAINST Hillary will bring all the GOP to the polls. It will be like a cattle drive. Treating people who always vote Dem like their votes do not matter compared to 'undecided' voters is not a good way to bring out the base.
If Hillary want to give up sure votes to seek out 'moderates' cool, but it won't bring out reliable voters. That's how we lost the midterm, ignoring the base in favor of trying to get moderates that do not exist. I watched my party do it in my state. We, the far left stinky granola eating liberals got things done; MJ legalization, minimum wage tied to inflation, protected the environment... We did not manage to vote in a Democrat for the Senate. Because our Democrate was very moderate and tried to sound lije a republican to get the 'moderate' vote that did not exist.
I expect democrats to continue doing foolosh stuff for the next few cycles before they figure out that the base is not moderate. We will lose.

(16,379 posts)But it was a great way for the DLC and Bill Clinton to be presented in '92. And it's been used by the corporate Dems ever since.

McGovern and Mondale won one state each. Before Clinton we lost three consecutive elections.
jeff47
(26,549 posts)You remember, the election when the party rejected the base and picked the "electable" Democrat?
Humphrey couldn't beat Nixon, even with Wallace siphoning off the deep South.
iandhr
(6,852 posts)you really think Eugene McCarthy could've won? Bobby Kennedy probably would have if he wasn't assassinated
jeff47
(26,549 posts)Another candidate might have gotten slightly better turnout, which would have been enough to defeat Nixon due to Wallace on the ballot.
But we can't really know. All we know is "electable" wasn't actually "electable".
(I wasn't around either, but you don't have to be there to read statistics)

Goodbye marriage equally. Women would kiss the right to choose goodbye. What makes you think that he can win.
I lived in Vermont for four years. I am a fan of Bernie and am very familiar with him. That why i know he can't win. Honestly what makes you think he can win?
If he ends up winning I will publicly admit on this site I was wrong and I will eat crow.

There is far too much to say there isn't much difference between GOp and corporate Dems.
It's the courts that are throwing out gay marrage ban.
Bernie voted against DOMA while Bill clintons igned it and hillary on senate floor called marriage a union between one man and one woman.

(9,126 posts)Our poll experts said he wouldn't break double digits...
Then, "He won't break 20..."
Then "His ceiling is 30..."
Well whaduno 35. And he is definitely taking from Clinton's numbers.
Hmm...well...harumph...it's NH, right next to Vermont and you know whiiiiite.
And likely Democratic primary voters are now more apt to see Sanders as the candidate who "best represents the values of Democrats like yourself." Sanders trounces Clinton, with 41% of Democratic primary voters saying Sanders does, to 30% who chose Clinton. In the May poll, 38% said Clinton was tops on this question, with 22% choosing Warren and just 13% picking Sanders.
Sanders has also gained dramatically in favorability ratings among Democrats since May. In the new poll, 66% say they have a favorable view of the Vermont senator, while just 11% hold an unfavorable view. In May, 45% had a favorable view and 11% held an unfavorable one.
And the Vermont Senator also holds a big edge over Clinton as the most empathetic candidate in the field; 45% say he's the one who cares the most about people like you, compared with 24% who pick Clinton on that score.
