Republican Florida Gov. Rick Scott on Tuesday declared that the debate about his states effort to purge thousands of voters is over because over 50 non-citizen voters were proof that that the process needed to go forward.
During an interview on CNN, host Christine Romans asked Scott why Florida was suing the Department of Homeland Security to get access to a database of eligible voters even after the federal government insisted that the voter purge be halted.
Look, the debate is over, Scott insisted. We know we have almost 100 individuals that are registered to vote that are non-U.S. citizens. Over 50 of them have voted in our elections.

IF that is true Gov Scott I expect you to instruct the State's AG to arrest these people and prove it in a court of law. IF no names are produced OR when these people are brought to court and prove their guilt OR innocents THAN the debate will be over.

(17,064 posts)have controlled the Governors office, SoS, Legislature and Cabinet for 20 years. If there is infact all these people voting illegally, then whose fault is that?

(2,307 posts)What about those who received letters saying they were going to be removed but were Americans. Why do I feel more letters went to Democrats than Republicans. Also, went to Hispanics who were in areas which were Democrat than those in Republican areas.
IF he has a list of 100 and 50 did vote, those should be charged with voter fraud. I don't think he has them, this is just some meat for the conservative to chew on for a while.
I don't mind verifying the list but do so starting November after the election so there is plenty of time to fix any errors. To do so with only 5 months left will not leave much time to fix the errors, Gov. Snot what about the 500 who you didn't allow to vote who should have been allowed to do so?

Why, this is a horrible crime. Worse even than the people that brazenly remove tags from mattresses!

(16,993 posts)instead of preventing ineligible voters from voting? It seems to me if you prevent one person who has the right to vote, and should be able to vote, from voting, that's far worse than having someone vote who shouldn't.
Agree with those who said ineligible voters should be dealt with legally.
As the Governor of Florida, Scott's duty should be to ensure the best interests of the citizens of his state are protected; preventing someone from voting who is eligible isn't looking after their best interests. Of course, from what I've seen of this man, the best interests of others aren't something he worries about much. He's a typical Republican.

(15,189 posts)It may have been someone who collected voter registration, and wanted any sign ups. So some of those who may have voted illegally, may not have known you have to be a citizen to vote. The collector may have lied to them just to get them to sign up. There may have been a Repuke taking any and all just so this would be their cover for voter fraud.

(8,419 posts)Someone named, let's say Juan Rodriguez signed up to vote and lived in an Apt building at let's say 123 Main Street, a vote was cast by a Juan Rodriguez with the same address. Now the first Juan lived in Apt 3A in 1998 and was not a citizen, the second Juan voted in 2004 and lived in Apt 6E. So there was no vote cast by the non-citizen but by dropping the Apartment they will try to make the claim.
