2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumA little tough-love in a survey I just filled out for Debbie Wasserman-Schultz
I need your advice, Corkhead. We are entering a stage of this election year when critical decisions are made. And more likely than not, these decisions -- about the issues and races to focus on -- will determine who wins in November, from congressional elections to the presidential race.
How we move forward as Democrats is in your hands. This party belongs to you.
Please share your thoughts about this election and what you care about most.
It's on all of us to determine the future, hone our strengths, and identify areas for improvement.
Together, we're facing a big moment in American politics -- and the work we put in now will make or break our plans to take back the House, keep the Senate, and win another four years for President Obama.
I look forward to hearing from you:
Thanks,
Debbie
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz
Chair
Democratic National Committee
Here is the survey with my responses...

What is the best way of contacting you for volunteer opportunities?

No

What kind of online action do you like to take on behalf of the Democrats? Select all that apply.
X Other, Please specify
I try to persuade others that Obama, although disappointingly corporatist, is still much better than the alternative.
Which describes your attitude toward donating to Democrats this election? Select all that apply.
X I plan to donate directly to Democrats in state and local races
How we move forward as Democrats is in your hands. Thanks for taking this survey.
Why are you a Democrat?
Because the alternative is unthinkable.
If you haven't donated, will you share why?
Nothing has been done to rein in Wall St., bankster thieves, or the billionaires that have bought our government. Nothing has been done for people who are underwater on their mortgages or are being foreclosed on. Banks got billions in bailouts and used it to give themselves bonuses, buy t-bills, and speculate in commodities markets instead of helping homeowners. My piddly donation would not compare to Koch Bros money, so why waste it. I need all I have to keep my underwater mortgage current.
How can we do a better job at communicating with you?
I don't know, I seem to get emails pretty regularly from you folks. I could be reminded of what makes the 2012 Democratic party different than the corporatist Republicans that have been purged from that increasingly insane party. It seems like after the bat-shit crazies threw them out, they took over the Democratic party. I could keep ranting, but I see I am limited to 500 characters for each of your questions; I am hitting most of them pretty close, except for the one on why I am a Democrat.
Do you have any other comments or feedback?
Until something is done to remedy what I have mentioned above, I feel my money and time is wasted by donating. I have every intention of voting for Obama in November, and he has done some good things, but I don't anticipate much being done about monied influence in elections and public policy which are necessary to save our democracy. I fear we have already headed over the abyss, and 4 more years is going to only slow down the arrival of the inevitable thud at the bottom.
Sorry about my tone.

Really gave her what for as well. Centered more on not prosecuting banks, look ahead and not back, civil rights, etc. I doubt that she is listening.

(3,655 posts)The only part they are concerned with is the "send in a donation" part. I would bet the rest never gets read or recorded. They look to see if there is any money and the rest goes in the trash. I save them the trouble and put it directly into the trash at the Post Office.

At least that's my response.
