There is a lot of support here

for the actions of BLM at the Netroots Nation meeting.

So now I am asking all of you, who support this action:

What are your serious proposals to end racism in
our country?
Obviously changing the police actions, education,
and jobs don't matter to you.

So what do you see as a solution?

And exactly....what do you want to happen? What exactly do you propose? Because bullying the candidates WHO SUPPORT your cause in & of itself does nothing. How do we end racism?

It smelled like some kind of weird ambush to me, whether by design or
because the candidates who accepted the invite were not adequately
briefed that such a thing might happen, to be ready for any thing, etc.
because that's how Netroots Nation rolls.

But I think one way to stop the police abuse of black citizens is to require
that ALL "settlements" and/or damages won in court with families of deceased
and/or abused citizens get paid directly out of the Police Retirement funds,
rather than saddling local cities and counties with that cost.

I'm not sure how feasible this is practically, but find some way to make cops
themselves pay for the damage they do, especially to people of color.

On edit: yes of course, some jail time for abusive cops would be the best solution,
rather than forcing the plaintiffs -- by letting killer-cops walk -- to resort to civil suits ..

with serious gang problems. I know that a lot of parents
are concerned about their kids' safety. There are a lot of
efforts to talk to those young people, still, people are afraid.

I don't really have an answer, but I hoped that the persons,
who screamed over the two most progressive candidates, and
those, who support that action, could tell me.

and give the proceeds to the victim's loved ones.

As I drive along, I play "spot the stealth cop car". There are so many designs that you have to almost be on top of them to know they are the police. From medium blue lettering on a lighter blue background, to lights designed to look like ski racks in your rear view mirror. All different makes and models...

And lets start talking about the the body armors and arms. The fortified trucks....

Sell them and go back to the black and white with a cherry on top.

weapons was a huge mistake, and I also would like
to see police, who patrol my neighborhood. to live here.
However, that is not legal, as far as I understand.

but one thing that could be done would be to have special unit in each state whose only job is to prosecute cases of police brutality. One huge problem is that prosecutors are very dependent upon the police and are thus often unwilling to prosecute these cases effectively. Another thing that would help is controlling guns and allowing our police to be less well armed like those in places such as the UK and Germany where such incidents are all but unheard of.

the DAs are elected, and they would have a say over that unit
in all probability. And, yes, that unit should have representation
of different races.
Yet, all of this comes down to the individual states and not
to the Feds.

if this fails then the next step would be to make police brutality a federal crime and have the feds do the prosecution. I would prefer to have the states do this on their own but if they can't or won't then the feds need to.

What can be legislated is equal rights, equal opportunity, equal pay, what can be done is to somehow restructure or rebuild our police system. But there is no law that will alter peoples' minds.

Racism cannot be forced to end. All anyone can do, anywhere in the world, is educate and legislate what can be legislated.

Does anyone seriously think, to try and look at another example, that making gay marriage legal made even one homophobic person change their mind? I am not trying to equate racism with homophobia, I am just saying that we can pass laws to try and ensure that groups get equal rights and opportunities, but it is calculated madness to keep asking what any politician can do about ending racism.

If there is a solution, I would like to know what it is.

but most of those will have to come from the individual
states. That is where the real power lies, and not with
the Federal government.
Thus imo the strong protests should come from within
the state.

Just to add to your list; criminal justice reform, and special prosecutors dept specifically to investigate any unarmed killings by police. Body cams as well. And that's just on the criminal justice side. The list on the economic justice side is a whole other story.

and I hope that it may be on its way with even the
Koch brothers' support. Yet, I have to say it again,
the main power lies within the states and their laws.

Even Holder could not do much for the Ferguson case.
Unfortunately, states' rights are too strong for necessary
changes.
