(44,173 posts)Keep your excitement contained, however. Gallup has not been friendly to Obama this year. He's gotten better polls from Fox News.

(37,326 posts)I check that poll every day and many days they have Obama's approval even lower than (R)asmussen has him. It was just a shock to see him up 5 points from yesterday.

(28,017 posts)It was his compromise above all else approach that cursed so much trouble. For him. For us. For the country.

(1,033 posts)Gallup typically has Obama a couple points below the average of pollsters. Tomorrow he'll probably be back down to 46-48%. Daily tracking polls don't mean too much on a day-to-day basis.
One thing I'm interested in seeing (or not seeing) is whether the MSM picks up on this. They always do when they have outliers that go the other way (say the 43% they had him at a few days ago). When that happens, it's breaking news. Will this be? Probably not.

Also thought this little tidbit was interesting...
Professionals Pick Obama; Execs and Business Owners, Romney
Government workers back Obama over Romney

(16,916 posts)this gives a bit of support to the Bloomberg poll.
Since Gallup was called out for under polling minorities, I've noticed Obama's approval numbers have started inching up.

(37,326 posts)the media were so quick to call the Bloomberg poll an "outlier," I guess we now have TWO "outliers." Thanks for those other pesky facts!

and I'm sure the media will be all over this 2nd "outlier" poll.

(24,689 posts)Very popular with Hispanics and other immigrant groups.
not to mention the speech Obama gave to the Latino group ABOUT his reform and other things. Maybe it got side-by-side coverage with ROMNEY'S speech to the same group. That must've also been positive.

(1,021 posts)and tends to over-sample Repubs in their polls, so I'm thinking Obama is actually at about 56% approval.

(5,066 posts)They have him at 51 percent approval and yet he Is In dead heat with Romney 46 to 45(Obama Is at 46)
This Is my problem with Gallup. Those who approve of Obama as President will vote for him.

(308 posts)I'm not sure what to think of a 5-point jump in approval overnight like that. Gallup has kind of been like Rasmussen this year - out of whack with some of the other pollsters. It has been consistently giving Romney high numbers.
It's nice to see Obama over 50%, but he could just as easily be back down in the mid-40's in a few days from now the way Gallup has been bouncing all over the place.

(39,961 posts)The less they like him. Republicans are even voicing disapproval of him because he lies so much. Obama isn't perfect, but the man is genuine. Romney is as genuine as a pleather shoe.

(112 posts)I didn't know that the SCOTUS decides on HC today. The media is about to go into an over drive Obama hate machine if they rule against HC reform. If they don't rule against they will definitely try to find something negative to spin. I don't take gallup to seriously, they are in the same category as Rasmussen. They make up polls without actually polling anyone hoping the public will be swayed by their bias. And when its near election day, they actually conduct polls to make it seem as though they are a trust worthy polling agency. Which is pure bs!!
