(36,240 posts)I don't disagree with you. It's just that there's a larger issue in 'showing up' in The Commons. I'm speaking the obvious to the choir, perhaps, but it still needs to be said. (Or, at least, I need to say it.)
Those who don't show up to protest these people's alleged patriotism leave a vacuum that they fill. No matter how small teapublicans numbers, it's THEIR voice that is heard all over America. Because RW media is organized to give that presence to them, uncritically thinking Americans think they speak for a majority. Which leads Americans away from decisions that do the greatest good for the greatest number. And themselves. This is media-driven pacification of millions.
Didn't the Democrats learn from the organized teabagger protests of 2009? In the name of patriotism, these protests 'conserve' a past allegiance to an old school pandering of a manipulated herd that can't let go of their cruel 'leaders.' Everyone just goes along to get along with them, and we never get rid of cruel leaders. Democrats/progressives must show a Washington presence.
At least Occupy DC should show up.
