I work in IT support as a consultant and I hear this everyday in one form or another.

Robust passwords, change them often, never give them out or make it easy to guess.

Limit signups to websites with a disposable email address. I have a specific email address that I only use to signup to websites that are less than fortune 500 companies. Small internet businesses do not have the infrastructure to properly protect your personal data. On edit: even fortune 500 companies get hacked, but less often...

I used gmail for newsletters. Some people use gmail exclusively.

icloud allows 3 “alias” addresses. i use 1 address for public sharing. 1 for newsletters and 1 is not used.

I don’t share my main address anymore.
