Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumDFA sent out an email announcing that they have finally given up
their quixotic quest to induce Liz to run. They asked for comments via email reply. Here is what I wrote:
The simple fact is, people seem to get excited when they find out about him. I have gotten into a lot of discussions about his 12 points with various people, and their reactions are nearly always very positive.
What some see as Bernie's Achilles heel--his inability to raise huge amounts from the banksters and the favor-seeking corporations--is to me his greatest strength. If I were in the proverb-writing trade, my product for today would be this:
You can't fight Big Money with Big Money, because Big Money wins either way.
And I signed it.

(45,274 posts)Was it DFA? That's Democrats for America, originally (2004) Dean For America, a progressive group still headed by Howard's brother.
Otherwise, WTF, WTF? (I always wanted to type that.)

(9,126 posts)Progressives need to get together and organize now. That is the only way to defeat big money.

(68,868 posts)instead of promoting an ideas-driven campaign. Bernie was always clear about his intent to run, has policies that are to the left of Warren, yet they chased that windmill because she was the media star.
Now they're jumping on the bandwagon.

(3,431 posts)to support Bernie, because Howard Dean is a very strong
supporter of HRC. Still, I can write a short comment to them.
Jackpine Radical
(45,274 posts)at the same time Howard was touting Hillary. Howard & DFA are different entities, apparently.

(9,086 posts)And MoveOn.org also got out the the Liz Warren game today too.
So we can sign this petition for MoveOn to back Bernie.
This one has been around a bit longer and already has 5000 sigs:

(9,126 posts)Could you make this an OP so all Sanders people see it? They need to back him or they will lose all credibility. DU can add about 700 sigs if they tried.

(9,086 posts)Since signing it I am getting emails from "John Schoonover", the person who started the petition.
They aren't bad or anything, just tips for actions to take. But kind of unwanted for me.
So I went to the bottom of the email and clicked 'unsubscribe'.

(45,274 posts)it keeps building up to a couple hundred emails a day, so I'm forever unsubscribing from groups, but the weeds keep growing back.
