I'm not one to complain about hides. And I'm not really complaining. I take my chances. I know when I'm being provocative.
But I thought it was interesting that merely a link to Libyan war photos was too much for Hillary's supporters.
They don't want to see the consequences of her decisions. They don't want to see families torn, lives snatched away, children obliterated, mothers and fathers grieving.
They don't want to see.
There's a line in Game of Thrones, written by George RR Martin, and uttered by the character Ned Stark. The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword. If you would take a man's life, you owe it to him to look into his eyes and hear his final words. And if you cannot bear to do that, then perhaps the man does not deserve to die.
It's a powerful statement, that those who would remove themselves from committing death begin to value life too cheaply. When someone else swings the sword, you don't have to think about the unpleasantness.
Clinton supporters don't want to think about unpleasantness. They don't want to see the faces of those her policies killed. They mean nothing to them. Those deaths are just numbers, a toll, a statistic that they may or may not have anything to do with.
They need to hide away from the lives obliterated.
If you cannot yourself bear to view the sentence you passed, why vote for the sword?

(3,457 posts)In a lengthy article (April 21st) at the liberal New York Times, How Hillary Clinton Became a Hawk, Hillary is variously described as aggressive, tough, a military wonk whos more muscular than President Obama when it comes to advocating for the use of force. Noted for her pugnacity and hardheadedness, Hillary is praised for her close relationships with U.S. generals, to include David Petraeus and Stanley McChrystal. Indeed, the article highlights the fact that Hillary is sometimes more aggressive in advocating for military force than the generals she confers with. Nevertheless, or rather because of this, the generals apparently like Hillary. They really like her!
...Admirer of Henry Kissinger, supporter of the Iraq War in 2003, self-styled conqueror of Qaddafi and Libya (We came. We saw. He died, Hillary the Hawk laughed), fervid supporter of Bibi Netanyahu and Israel, Hillary Clinton is ready to take on the world.

(1,166 posts)of this country's population doesn't spare a second thought for the horrors its government perpetrates around the world. I was reminded of that infamous quote from Barbara Bush with reference to the Iraq intervention: "Why should we hear about body bags and deaths? It's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"
