Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumQ: In its continuance, will Bernie Sanders Group be the center for discussing 'Our Revolution'?
I'm mostly interested in the limits of what's going to be allowed.

(36,063 posts)What I was really interested was whether the BERNIE SANDERS GROUP was going to go forward focusing on Sanders Movement.
The reason I'm wondering is that from the primary season it's fairly clear that the movement was a target of ridicule and hostility. Having the discussion within a protected group would shelter discussions from recreational trolling and other intentional disruption.

Bernie will no longer be a Dem and it will be an easy reason to shut this down

(36,063 posts)Why would he speak of what 'we' (first person plural) need many changes in the DNC, if he doesn't consider himself inside the party? Yet, it's true he positioned his stated 'independence' inside the democratic caucus.
I've always seen "the movement" as something that was based in the democratic party for practical reasons just as his candidacy was.
It's also important to his attempt to get followers to run for office. They need a party structure, just like Bernie did, to facilitate them moving through the mechanics of that process.
I'll just have to be patient and see how this plays out.

(36,063 posts)I'll need to hear more from Sanders.
Personally I think pissing on Dems would be detrimental to candidates under the banner of the movement. It would force the movement up against the same barriers that have held back the development of the greens in the US.

(45,251 posts)get the nom. The leaves him reverting to the Senate, where he was elected as an Indie. He is not breaking trust with the people of Vermont who voted for him, any more than he broke trust after saying he would not run as a third party spoiler.

In essence Bernie filed FEC forms in order to run as a Democrat for president. He did say he would finish his term as the independent Vermont voters selected. Currently he is still working with the Democratic Party championing the progressive agenda.

(45,251 posts)AFAIK, juries no longer know if a post is in a group or not, so "protected" groups are now no longer protected groups, just groups. You will be juried by the same standards that apply in the main forums.
The limits of what will be allowed, as always, depends on alerts, juries and, forbanning of a long-time poster or review of a flagged account, on an admin. IOW, it's anybody's guess and you take your chances.
The new TOS did say something specific about discussing Bernie in terms of what he was seeking from the Party.
I am sure we can praise Bernie, because he is supporting Hillary. I would steer clear of all criticism of Hillary.
If you have specific questions, Skinner is the one to ask.
