I stubbed my toe...

Ow. It hurts.

/gets soapbox out of storage. Blows the dust away. Stands on it.

The last seven days on Daily Kos have been extremely illuminating, and not necessarily in the good way. I have read remarkably awesome and terrible things said about Bernie Sanders, Martin O'Malley, white people, Netroots Nation, progressive spaces, and #blacklivesmatter.

It has been a horrible thing to witness, sure, but certainly an educational one nonetheless.

As a long-time Bernie Sanders supporter, I would just like to state the following things, unequivocally:

1. whoever the total douchebag was in Ecletablog's guest post today is a major dickhead and should be called out, in no uncertain terms, as a bully and an asshole;

2. whatever end the BlackLivesMatter movement attempted to achieve at Netroots Nation was surely realized a mere 24 hours later; and

3. those of us who still support Bernie Sanders are not goddamned racists, so knock it the fuck off!

I do not care who you support in the Democratic primary for 2016, but surely, we can mostly agree on the following things:

* minorities of all kinds should be able to achieve success in their respective neighborhoods, and should never be targeted by racist, control-freak cops who want them dead;

* something should SERIOUSLY! be done to law enforcement officers who believe people of color are somehow "worse" or "not worth it";

* women should have autonomy over their own bodies;

* women should achieve equal pay that men enjoy;

* LGBTQ folks should never fear discrimination in jobs or housing, be able to marry whomever the hell they want to marry, and T people should be able to assume any gender they see relevant;

* poor people should not be sought out by the Powers That Be for persecution, simply because they don't make enough money;

* children should be taken care of, well, in and out of their homes;

* education should be a fundamental institution of American society;

* climate change should be realized and feared for the very real threats we all face, as members of the human race;

* war should not be achieved until all matters of diplomacy are completely dissolved;

* we should acknowledge that veterans deserve a sacred space in American society, and should be well looked-after for the rest of their natural-born lives;

* immigrants should have a viable and concrete future in the United States, especially their children, who are born here but who are not "of" here:

* a $15.00 minimum wage should be federally instituted immediately, because no one can really afford to pay for their day-to-day expenses without this wage increase;

* independent financial autonomy should be able to be achieved without the help of Big Banks, or banks deemed "Too Big To Fail";

* banks deemed "Too Big To Fail" should immediately be dissolved;

* infrastructure spending in the United States should increase 100-fold, since our highways and nuclear facilities are sorely lacking in such areas; and
defense spending in the United States should decrease 100-fold, because we are the only known "Superpower" left on Planet Earth.

...

This is just off the top of my head, and I'm certainly not including every single issue that I have. It seems that the Democratic Party Platform has not yet been released for 2016, but here is a copy of the 2012 one, in case you are interested.

Reading all of it just now convinced me that Democrats are not just blind and deaf to the struggles of working-class Americans, but simply paying lip service to them.

They don't mean it. They can't mean it, or else the Democratic Party Platform of 2012 is an in-depth lie so complete, so formidable, that we are not able to conquer it as a nation.

Think about that for a second, will ya? Let that sink into your grey matter.

The Democratic Party Platform of 2012 is unadulterated bullshit. Tell me what we achieved with regards to that platform. Because I'm pretty sure you can name maybe, I don't know, three things that we accomplished out of the lot of that. It's crap and, if I had a bird, I wouldn't even bother to line the birdcage with this obnoxious bullshit.

I'm not sitting here waiting for my time to be called, for Little Shiz to be told that she doesn't matter. I guess y'all can wait for as long as you want, but I will not be joining you.

Regardless of what you think, Hillary Rodham Clinton has simply not been held to the same standard that Bernie Sanders has, at least not during the past week here on Daily Kos. It's not possible. HRC wasn't there for the BLM protest, but she gets a free pass? Are you even fucking kidding me?!? How the hell does that work?

And yet, those of us who have been (either personally and professionally) screaming about the ill treatment of black folk and the like, for years and years and years now, are suddenly subjected to this indiscriminate and callous mistreatment and are expected to look the other way and go, Jesus! BLM is saying that #blacklivesmatter!

when we've been standing with you all along. ALL ALONG.

Goddamnit. We are not your enemy, for chrissakes, QUIT IT!

/steps off soapbox.

/puts bandage on toe, hope it heals.

I was being sarcastic in my post above.

Bernie is an all out Championer of people who have been victimized by the hoarding abusive subjugating 1%ers.

First, she's a lousan increay communicator.

Second, she does not want to break up big banks.

Third, she does not want the return of Glass-Steagall.

Fourth, she really doesn't want to reform the revolving door syndrome in D.C.

Fifth, she is on the wrong side of racism if you look at the changes she supported during her husband's administration.

Sixth, she says the right things about unions, but what has she really done for them recently?

Seventh, she needs to explain her views on single payer healthcare insurance.

Eighth, why isn't she calling for an expansion of Social Security benefits based on removal of the cap entirely and taxing all income for Social Security benefits with a lowered percentage of each paycheck taken from a broader base of income to do it.

So many, many problems with her candidacy.

And NINTH, why wasn't she at the Netroots Nation?

Is she afraid to take the heat that Netroots Nation puts on candidates?

Cause right there, what is wrong with her that she puts a rope around the press and then avoids the criticism the other candidates were forced to under go at Netroots Nation.

And TENTH and most important, the Rodney King incident occurred March 3, 1991, before Bill Clinton took office.

WHAT DID BILL CLINTON DO TO PREVENT POLICE BRUTALITY following the Rodney King incident? And if it was enough, why are we still seeing that brutality today.

What would Hillary do that her husband did not do when he had the chance?

Same for Obama.

Police brutality and racism have been in the news since the Rodney King incident and before. Why hasn't that been a primary focus of Obama's Justice Department? I know they have taken some action, but we still see so many incidents of police use of excessive force especially against people of color. Why hasn't Obama done a lot more?

The Clintons and Obama administration should answer for this. They have had the bully pulpit to draw attention to the problem and control of the Justice Department and FBI to actually do something about racists in police departments. They acted with regard to very large forces in very large cities, often only after pressure from local activists, but that is not nearly enough.

My argument is that we should give Bernie a chance to deal with this problem since the other candidates failed at it when they had the chance. And if Hillary wants to take credit for "experience" during Bill's administration,, she should take the blame for the many failures of that administration.

And that was the plan, to only expose the bare minimum of debatable ground to Republican talking points. We all know that the Republicans will make her positions look moderate by comparison.

The immense amount of ground she's giving away uncontested is only obvious when in comparison to another candidate who isn't giving up an inch. A candidate who rather is looking to claw back the losses the working class has suffered.

HRC's donor list doesn't look terrible compared to the villains behind the Republicans. Not till it's compared to that of Sanders are serious concerns made obvious.

To choose HRC over Sanders is to say "Thank you, sir! May I have another?" to those in our party who curse and condemn Progressive aspirations.
