How stupid is that?
Of course Bernie can win.
Anyone making a post on DU claiming that Bernie can't win should be looked at very closely.
In 9 months the first primaries begin. The convention is, iirc, September 2016. Let's get it on!!

I may have said those exact words at one point, and for very good reasons.
But, I wont say them again because it is counterproductive.
I have given him my money and I am on his list of people who will be helping him.
It would be nice if EVERYBODY at DU stopped saying that, though.

(28,749 posts)Does he want people who think Bernie can't win banned?
If so I don't feel that is fair. I'm not one of those people but I'd rather prove my point than have their voice silenced.
Maybe they have bad intentions, maybe they don't... but usually that becomes clear and the system (MIRT/ADMIN) will rectify that.

(13,685 posts)Yep. The opposite of that would be ignored. We should not ignore those who say Bernie can't win. Not only because it is stupid, but because they need to be educated.
Had I meant blocked I would have wrote blocked. Thanks for your interest, but you may not want to be trying to rewrite what I write?

(9,126 posts)They can't attack him on his positions without ripping of their liberal mask, so they attack him for not be a "serious" candidate because the can't raise $1Billion dollars.
More passive smears:
Too old
Funny hair
Young people won't like him
Socialist!
It's all over. But it's so easy to prove they aren't true. The reddit thread alone shows he appeals to young people--a lot.
Gandhi may not have said it, but it should should be Bernie's campaign slogan (seriously)
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

(1,712 posts)We had Dennis Kucinich as a real candidate for the people, years ago. At my caucus, over 75% wanted him to be our candidate. At the end, 20% voted their conscience, under pressure that "he can't win." Guess which candidate who "could win" didn't win, folks? We can't say that Dennis would've won that year if people had stuck to their convictions, but we can say that a lot more motivated folks would've been pounding the pavement for a candidate they believed in.
Go Bernie!

(262 posts)Thom Hartmann agrees that Bernie may win because right now Bernie is almost at the same polling level as Barack Obama. Was in 2008.

It looks like it may not be working out for her again.

(13,059 posts)that Bernie is in this to win. He is not in it to push Hillary Clinton to the left (although of course if she moves to the left that is a good thing.) Bernie is in it because he wants to win and he can win.

(23,156 posts)contrapositive of Hillary will win.
Neither statement is true at this point.
It is my belief that Hillary is far more vulnerable than her supporters understand, and that Bernie is far more electable than his detractors realize. That's not to say that she will lose and he will win, or vice versa. It is to say that the whole question of electability is far more complex than a lot of people get.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)True, at this point it is just stupid to say Bernie can't win. And so we watch and see who might make such stupid statements?
